My wife was having contractions and was trying to talk to a labor and delivery nurse,but the nurse caught an attitude with her and hung up the phone on her. This type of stuff is why as a rule my family makes the drive to uva. Nurses shouldn't be catching attitudes with a scared pregnant lady that's in labor and was actually being polite. Centra seriously needs to step up as a whole.

Today my Mother is taking the first step to beat cancer. She is getting her cancerous kidney removed. We went to her room where they had her before surgery and seen 3 different nurses and the surgeon before they took her back. All of them including the surgeon told us we could stay in her room until they found her a recovery room, during her surgery. An hour after they took my Mom back to surgery they came into her room and told us that we were not supposed to be in the room and that they talked to the nurse and no one told us we could be in there. That they needed the room so that they could clean it since there was only one person cleaning rooms that morning. They have no empathy for families that they are working with, and have the lowest standard for integrity I have ever seen.

This hospital has some of the rudest nursing staff I have ever had the displeasure of speaking with. I have dealt with many nurses and have several in my family. None of them would dare speak to a patient or patient family member as these nurses do. And the care is subpar in a lot of ways. The only good thing that I can say is the volunteer staff are very friendly and the doctors that I've had the pleasure of working with for my family member have been wonderful. It's too bad the nursing staff is not. They are your front line staff and should be more understanding of how to treat family members of critically ill patients.

My husband was a patient in the acute physical therapy. It was a great experience. Everyone was awesome

Had my son born here less than a week ago! I was extremely impressed with our nurses and our doctors! We had a few nurses all professional, but nurse Tammy was by far all of our favorite. Very knowledgeable, energetic, and friendly. Dr. Dixon and her medical student were amazing as well. Made baby delivering an easy process. Will choose this place for my next baby. Our nurses afterwards were very good too, would help feed, bathe, etc. which game me and my girlfriend time to get some rest.
