Centra Health

Centra Health has only made healthcare worse in Central Virginia. They have created a monopoly. ER wait times are ridiculously long. There are no other options or choices for healthcare because they've acquired (taken over) all of their competitors. We were OVERBILLED for a medical procedure and Centra REFUSES to issue a refund. They are holding our money hostage. If we owed them money, they wouldn't wait months for us to pay. Why should we wait months for a refund?

The er needs some definite work…. But the rest of my hospital stay which was over a week upstairs'(almost 2 weeks )was wonderful or as good as could be expected!!! I had Dr Joanne Hosni, MD and she was so unbelievably amazing and helpful. Instead of bringing me down and nagging me about what I need to do, she supported me on my journey of healing and was so positive the entire time and when I had a concern she listened and did everything she could to resolve it. We need more drs like her!!! And she made sure I would make it home safe during this snow/ice storm! Even most my nurses and cnas stayed there several days and were just as kind, one of them even washed my hair and braided it. Good job centra 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

After my procedure they forgot to do a sponge count so they did an x-ray, PROMISING ME that they wouldn't charge me for THEIR error. After 4 months and over 25 phone calls (from my husband and myself) and assurances that they would remove the charge a send a new bill, I finally just had to pay for it so I don't get sent to collections. Really upsetting and frustrating that their system is so broken that they cannot code things correctly and now I'm out a preventable $400.

It’s sad that centra don’t care about the community but only the bottom line I have had several issues with Centra Health I have left other reviews and filled out their surveys but not a word from them My newest issue started in June or July of 2025. My doctor also with CMG said I was in stage three kidney failure after some lab work She was sending me to a kidney specialist Sometime in august and many calls. I stop at my doctors office and asked what the holdup was getting me a referral for the specialist. All kinds of excuses were given but only after I said I was going to the top of centra I got help. So now to today 10/30/25 I still have not received any treatment but many scans I had a scan 7 days ago and the results are still not read. I am waiting to a new scan today so

Centra billing department needs to be more proficient in explaining charges. ER wait times is another troubling situation. Spending over 11 hours in the ER for kidney stones is not acceptable.
