Careworks Urgent Care

My experience here was fine, but they billed me as if I was seeing a specialist, not for urgent care. Since I did not have a referral from my primary care doctor (side note: Why would I have a referral if it is an urgent care visit?), insurance did not cover it. So they are called "Careworks Urgent Care" but they do not bill as urgent care. Make that make sense, please. So now I am trying to get a retroactive referral so I don't have to pay $310 for a visit that should only cost $15. I am sure I am not the only one to experience this.

Walked right in and was seen, though it also wasn't very busy. None of this 'make an online appointment' stuff I've been seeing in other reviews. The registration did take a while, but it didn't drag on forever, and once I was in the back, I was taken care of quickly but not rushed. PA Dawn was great, and explained everything she was doing without dragging on too long, neither keeping me waiting nor leaving me in the dark. I imagine it would be a longer wait if it was busier.

We stopped in this clinic to have my son tested for strep throat. The receptionist was rude and we waited for over 45 mins in the waiting room. After waiting I went up to get an estimate on how much longer it would be and if she could give me an estimate on the cost of this visit. She assured me it would be no more than $100. We got called back and then waited another half hour in the room. They tested us and then several weeks later we received a bill for over $200. If any other options are available I would go somewhere else.

This was our 3rd Urgent Care in an hour as the two in State College were on 3 hour waits. We waited 10 minutes to be seen. PA Dawn was amazing. They were great with my 5 year old and took the time to explain the diagnosis. I appreciate the time and care that Dawn gave to us. 10 out of 10 - highly recommend Dawn!!

I don’t understand why people work in a service profession if they can’t be civil. I drove an hour and a half to pick up my sick daughter at penn state to take her to this clinic because it was only one open on Sunday. The door was locked when we got here, even though it was 1:30pm and the sign said open. The nurse taking patients back was very rude for no reason. My daughter was listening to everything she said to do, yet the nurse was being so snappy. Had I known the service would be this poor, I would have taken her home to our urgent care clinic that treats patients nicely.
