The location is convenient, and the staff was lovely, but the main provider that I saw (I believe it was Dr. Allen) had horrible bedside manner. I came in with a sore throat, so I had a strep test, and when he came in he clearly hadn't looked at my chart or seen that a swab was done. He also didn't even close the door when he came in to examine me, and barely wanted to take any time to answer my questions (anytime I asked a question he would start to turn away to leave, and then stop to begrudgingly answer my question). The exam itself also barely happened - he looked in my throat for maybe a second. I was bitten by a spider last weekend, maybe Brown Recluse or Yellow Sac, while staying at Wellfleet. The day following the bite my middle finger was horrific with black blisters on my finger and my right hand swelling as the systemic infection was creeping up my lower arm and swelling it. I went to Orleans Urgent Care ASAP Monday morning and was treated by Dr. Kevin Allan, RN Garrett and a lady nurse whose name I don't have. All of them were excellent although having the big purple/black blisters the size of dimes ripped off my finger with gauze while doused in iodine was like field treatment out of M.A.S.H. I came to cape cod health Orleans on June 19, 2024, to unblock my ears from swimming, not urgent at all. The receptionist was very nice and I asked the price and she said it costs “nothing,” just to give my insurance card. More than a year later I received my first bill for $579.36 telling me it was “urgent” and “severely overdue.” Poor communication to have a first invoice tell a patient its severely overdue. Two more problems with it. First, neither me nor anyone I know would pay in excess of $500 to have ears unblocked. Second, this was submitted too late to my insurer to be covered – it was rejected because it was submitted late. I called an spoke to an officious Reuben who clearly is trained in aggressiveness and not care and told me this was going to collections. Stuff it.

Great medical care, no wait, quick test results and prescription written. Doctor Fletcher and the nurse and front desk person were all courteous, helpful and very efficient. I highly recommend this Urgent Care facility. Too bad it’s closing next month for the off-season.
