Brookeside Veterinary Hospital

I was happy to find on a return visit to Brookside many improvements to their business compared to years past. The hospital was clean and orderly. Staff was friendly and knowledgeable. Dr. Kemner and her tech were great with my grouchy 10 year old cat. While the business has been acquired by some new vets, the old vets are still on staff. I found the pricing to be fair as it has been in the past. I was pleased with the improvements I found and the new staff and will return as needed with my 2 cats.

Outstanding service and experience overall! Brookeside was extremely professional and took great care of my precious Tootsie during her feline spay procedure. The facility was impressive, the staff was welcoming and they provided thorough instructions for her after-care and recovery. I definitely recommend them!

Brookside Veterinary Hospital and Brookdale Kennel in Ann Arbor were purchased by a new owner about six months ago - April 2025. We had boarded our German Shepherd at this kennel for about six years without incident, and he loved going there. Under previous ownership, the veterinarians actively monitored the dogs, and we trusted their care completely. On Nov 25-28, 2025, our dog was boarded at Brookdale Kennel. On Nov 28, we received a call that no owner would want to get, that he had died from bloat (gastric dilatation-volvulus), a painful condition requiring urgent surgical intervention--services available at the clinic. Kennel logs show he refused food that morning and was curled up in his bed at 8:30 AM. He had also urinated in his kennel--highly unusual for him. These were clear signs

Our family members had a horrific experience at this kennel where, tragically, their very healthy, beloved German Sheppard, passed away during normal business hours last Friday, 11/28. Our family feels strongly that their dog exhibited red flag behaviors starting at 8:30AM. These red flags were noted/logged by an employee yet their dog wasn't rechecked until FOUR hours later, when he was found dead. Their dog suffered in extreme pain for hours and if staff had checked on him regularly or was even close by and heard him crying in pain, there is no doubt he would still be alive. Our goal is to inform others so that they do not get the devastating call our family members received and your beloved pet does not suffer for hours and die. Brookside is absolutely AMAZING! They always treat all of our pets with care and respect as well as us when we bring them in. They are fair in price, and have helped us with multiple pets over the years. Highly recommend!
