***This massage center preys on young college girls. If you are a woman or female presenting I highly encourage you to stay away from this place*** I got my first ever massage here when I was in college in 2021/ early 2022 and am just now writing a review. Body Therapy Center left me with an irreversible fear that every massage experience would be like the one I endured here while I was in college. Therefore, It took me until just today to work up the courage to get my second massage to date, despite desperately needing it for years. The first red flag about this place was the price. I found an extremely cheap Groupon and the stock photos made it seem like a normal massage parlor. I think they keep their prices very cheap because they want to target young broke college kids. I went with a friend and they had Angela and I had Glenn. Their experience with her was a better one than I had with him. I'm not sure if she's normally there for massages or if she's just there to help him out. My friend said she was very communicative, applied the right pressure, and gave the appropriate amount of attention to the areas that they needed help with. Even used a rolling pin! The room they were in was nicer than mine as well and had better (lower) lighting. The place is in a really old building so it's weird at first but they have great customer service. The only reason this isn't a 4 star is because of my experience. My room was very bright and maybe that's just a personal preference but it didn't help with relaxation. The table was wobbly and just the quality of massage ov
Massage was okay. I didn't leave feeling great like I have at other places in the past. My specific muscular discomfort was not addressed during the massage, and I made an appointment with another place in the car immediately after to address it, as it was my primary motivation for seeking a massage. This is a good place if you want an overall, relaxing massage for an inexpensive price. This is not a place if you have a problem area that needs attention. The massage therapist is a friendly, older gentleman who is very professional, but the office is isolated on a quiet upper floor so I can see how some women may feel uncomfortable in that setting.
I got the massage on cisaves and even with a discount, it was not worth it. I have had many massages in my day and this was one of the worst I have ever received. I paid for a deep tissue and barley got a swedish experience. The massage room was cluttered and did not feel clean. The room was brightly lit and not relaxing at all and it was decorated with an excessive amount of mirrors making it uncomfortable to turn over as I feel as though he could have easily looked in the reflection under the sheet. After the massage, I made the mistake of drinking some water out of the water cooler and it tasted like an ashtray, almost as though he just refills the jugs from a mop sink. I would not go back and would not recommend this place to anyone else.
I had waited a year to redeem this massage as it was a gift. I'm fully vaccinated, continue to wear a mask, and was going to request the therapist not touch my hands or face during the massage but did not get that far. Upon entering, he was not wearing a mask and went for a handshake. I turned down the handshake, he joked about this. During the wait, I asked if he was vaccinated, he stated that he was not, even though he appears to be of the first age group to have become eligible. He offered to put a mask on, but I did not trust his judgement in reference to the vast other personal ways of keeping clients safe. He may be the greatest therapist, but he failed where it currently matters. There are safer ways to reduce transmission AND keep your business open.
