Dr. Umapathi and her assistant Wendy are incredibly competent and caring people. When I became extremely ill after seeing two different doctors and two cat scans that did NOT reveal a perforation, Wendy was able to rearrange the schedule and get me in to see Dr. Umapathi quickly. During the appointment, she LISTENED to me and took quick action in having me admitted to Sibley Hospital where I was diagnosed with sepsis, an abscess and a perforation that could NOT be seen due to its location. After recovering from sepsis, she performed a resection with incredible precision and care. Throughout both hospital stays, she checked on me daily including weekends, which was so unexpected, but greatly appreciated. I truly felt cared for and knew I was in incredibly proficient hands! Dr. Umapathi is a wonderful and dedicated doctor. She has trained all the nurses on the surgical floor at Sibley in proper treatment of her colon patients. She fought for me to get an appointment with a cardiologist for pre op clearance and her office assistant actually called me more than once after hours to help get some issues addressed. They are a wonderful team. I couldn’t have asked for more. And I experienced minimal pain and no complications from my surgery.
