Beckley ARH Hospital

My daughter (non verbal, level 3 autistic) had to have dental work done, so we had to go to ARH because she needed anesthesia in order to get that done. Our experience was absolutely wonderful. The Outpatient Surgery staff really went the extra mile and making sure my girl was comfortable & even helped her with a low stimulation atmosphere in recovery. I don’t remember everyone’s names (though I wish I could so I could give you all proper credit), but this was on 2/12/26. Everyone from admissions to discharge was amazing & I really cannot say enough good things about them! They made her feel like a queen on transfers (in the bed & in wheelchair), let her take her “blankie” everywhere she went & gave her a little ARH teddy bear which she is carrying around today! The adolescent BHU is NOT a good place to send your child for treatment!!! While i was a patient here i was misdiagnosed and given medication that was not supposed to be in my body at the age i was at the time, due to harmful effects caused by the medication. After consulting another psychiatrist who listened to my experience, i was informed that the medication given to me is supposed to be closely supervised when given, since it can cause a multitude of health problems for children, including brain slowness/dullness. While being a patient we were told to go to classes daily, one day i was cramping from just getting my period and i was told since i was “skipping class” i would be locked in my room the ENTIRE day. I have had to go to Barh twice over the past month, and both times I was treated with compassion and empathy. The first doctor I had was a younger male doctor named Sam and the second PA I saw was named Lisa Murphy. They both went above and beyond to make sure that I was comfortable and taken care of. I cannot say enough good things about this hospital. Also, both times I went I was there less than an hour. Everyone from the woman that checked me in, to the nurses, to the doctors were just wonderful! They explained everything to me, answered all my questions, the facility was immaculate. I was provided a referral for aftercare and enough medicine to get me to that appointment. Thank you, thank you thank you! I would refer barH to anyone!

I recently went to the ER here for some trouble I was having in my left foot. I have already had surgery on it and sure I have reinjured it somehow. I was having so much trouble out of it I could hardly walk. The nurse took my complaint and started to take my vital signs. The “provider” walk up and stands there with her hands on her hips looks dead at me and says “there’s nothing I can do for you at all for that” with a smirky look on her face. I was a little set back by it. She turned walk out of the room with no further explanation. All I wanted was maybe an xray or CT. I was not seeking pain medication in anyway or had said anything in that direction. The nurse was shocked and immediately apologized. Honestly kinda just horrible the only reason it’s getting 2 stars is for the nurse god bless her but I forgot her name who reassured me constantly got me multiple new blankets for even the tiniest stain and even checked the taxi I was sent home in was safe now that being said I went because my mental health has been completely out of control not in a suicidal way but in a I can’t stop having panic attacks way I haven’t eaten or slept and I went to maybe get help from the psych unit which by the doctor who seen me for 30 seconds wouldn’t even listen to me was no help didn’t seem to know anything wouldn’t even let me speak to the psych unit because I wasn’t suicidal or threatening anyone he gave me a single pill of busbar and left me for hours before just dismissing me he didn’t care about m
