Augusta Hospital

This is a first class regional hospital that can do everything from routine lab test to major surgery. It is also a teaching hospital so expect to see students shadowing the experienced workers. Hospital is part of a regional system including express care and local primary care/specialty care offices. I find the express care is often a better first choice for non catastrophic emergency care but have had to use the hospital several times recently both personally and through my job for things as simple as a tick bite and as complex as gall bladder surgery. In every case staff were the epitome of grace under pressure. The skill and compassion of workers at every level (even the coffee shop) is amazing. I dont hesitate to send my loved ones there and neither should you.

What kind of a hospital are you guys running? Several years ago when I had a heart attack I went to a walk-in clinic in your area they told me not to go to your hospital but to the one in Brunswick and I never knew why. The other day my sister-in-law had upper and lower blood pressures in the 300 Zone and the doctor there told her they didn't treat high blood pressure and that she didn't like it that she came in so late as it made her stay over on her shift! Now I know why you have such a bad reputation.

As I had reported in prior reviews, if it’s a life or death situation then absolutely Augusta is a good choice but if you have a choice and you want the best medical healthcare and top surgeons in the state main Medical Center in Portland is the best hands-down.

Went to Augusta Hospital to have day surgery the nurse who did my iv did it where it hurt so bad and left my are very black and blue and sore to touch 😢 they need better nurses who know how to do i v s

This is the worst hospital in the state of Maine, and I would highly recommend going straight to Bangor or Portland instead. If you go here for any emergency you'll spend hours waiting in the lobby and most likely be transferred to a better hospital anyways. Last time I was there I spent 5 hours bleeding onto the floor in the lobby without anyone seeing me. 2 men were there with stroke symptoms and had been waiting 10 and 12 hours without anyone seeing them. A man was beginning to lose his vision after waking in 6 hours earlier and was still waiting to be seen when I left. I would give this hospital 0 stars if I could and I sincerely hope something changes to get this place running like it should.
