Augusta Health Urgent Care

I wish I could leave zero stars. I took my sick 4 year old last night to be evaluated for strep and flu. He was so sick I had to carry him from the car. The nurse practitioner spent less than 5 min with us and never came back after performing the nasal swab. (I would also say by the questions she was asking the RN in the room that she should not have taken the swab.) 45 min after the swab, I was handed a sheet of paper through the door and told we could go home. No follow up. No care instructions or explanation for what was going on. We were then instructed we had to walk out the back way because they locked for the night so I had to carry him in the DARK around the building to my car. I knew I should have driven to UVA.

There’s plenty of low star reviews on here, but I’ve never once had a bad experience. I’ve been here 3 different times, all of which were fast, friendly, and professional. My most recent visit was during the holidays. It was very busy, but I was in and out in about 45 minutes. That’s extremely fast for a healthcare location.

My daughter was seen by the NP a few weeks back for an upper respiratory infection (which my entire family ended up getting) and to say she had less than a desirable experience as an understatement. Urgent cares are utilized for visits that don’t warrant an ER visit ( non emergency) such as coughs, viruses..etc. obviously she went there for a visit non life threatening. The NP was incredibly rude and mentioned that she should not have came in for a “simple cold”. Two weeks later and she is still sick! Thank goodness for med express H’burg and the antibiotics. To the NP, you are not in an emergency room setting. You do not get to determine if someone’s visit is deemed serious enough for your care. If you want to be in an ED setting, apply at the hospital 🙂

I have been to this facility multiple times. It is not a good experience.. After reading these reviews, I’m even more appalled than I was before. Our medical system is a failure, lacking of direct care, empathy, and a genuine love for people. Have you forgotten your Oath!!! And I hate to shake your little tree, but if somebody is sick and they need a doctors note they should get bc they have already paid you for treatment and a note if needed should be given to them!!! How unprofessional can you get here? If I could give you a zero, that’s what you get! All I can tell people is to stop going to this place because if all they care about is the money take it away from them!! PS your hospital is no better. It’s actually worse.!!

This is the slowest Urgent care I have ever been too. It don't matter if there is 1 person in the waiting room or 10. You're going to be here for hours just waiting. Might as well go to the hospital. You don't even see a Dr. You get a nurse practitioner. It took 2 hours just to be seen with only 4 people in the waiting room. I was told they were not busy and would be seen in the next 30mins. 2 hours later I was seen.
