Ascension St. John Medical Center

From out of state and was ambulanced to St. John's from a smaller town. Yes, had to wait a bit in the er, but all the city hospitals were over capacity, so I was just glad to be admitted. Gave me all the tests I needed and results right away!!! Hospitalist was very intuitive and went right to cardiology when he read the results. Cardiologist Dr. Richard D. Kacere didn't waste any time and came right in with his excellent explanation and recommendation and got me to the cath lab right away even though at the end of the day. Results back to me first thing in the morning with again, a very thorough explanation from Dr. Kacere. We cannot express enough how professional he was. This is what part of the mission and vision of St John Ascension states. . . Mission: Rooted in the loving ministry of Jesus as healer. Vision: Answering God’s call to bring health, healing and hope to all. The service that our loved one received at this facility did not reflect the mission or vision by the doctoral staff members. Even though we visually seen the state of our loved one, we were believing in Jesus, the Healer. Given St. John’s mission, we thought we would have a medical staff that would stand in faith with us. That was certainly not the case. Every single solitary day, either Dr. Timothy Ihrig, Dr. David Gilbert, Dr. Mathieu Nader, Dr. Aaron Alvarado, Dr. Issac Kriley, Dr. Yasir Ahmed, Dr Pranay Kathuria or Dr. Paul Zito would tell us that our loved one was going to die.

Staff was cordial and efficient. There is a toilet in plain view in the room we were taken into for pre-op testing and the floor around that toilet was filthy. I would suggest that the floor should be thoroughly cleaned. Also, our primary insurance is Medicare Replacement through Aetna and is provided to retirees by Boeing. Secondary coverage is through the Cherokee and Muskogee Creek tribes. However, Ascension St. John's does not maintain the secondary coverage information in your system. We question why that is your policy. For every incident that St. John's provides services we must go through the complete process of getting that information entered into your system so that we aren't required to pay anything up front. I went to the ER after my rheumatologist called me urgently and told me to get to the nearest hospital immediately because my CT scan showed two pulmonary embolisms in my lungs. I was terrified, experiencing chest pain, labored breathing, and extreme anxiety. Although my doctor is affiliated with St. Francis, I went to St. John because it is closer to my home and family. Upon arrival, I informed the check-in staff that my doctor instructed me to come to the nearest ER STAT due to blood clots in my lungs. I was told to have a seat. My breathing worsened, and I returned to the desk asking for help. A nurse from the back finally noticed my condition, brought a wheelchair, and assisted me. Only then was I taken back. Could not be more delighted with the superb care I received for an angioplasty yesterday! From checkin with Rhonda, to all the prep staff at the cath lab, to sweet Kristen's visit, to the great skill of Dr. Hussain, to the actually delicious and prompt meals we were served post- procedure, through the comprehensive dismissal process with Joy and Eric, it was phenomenal!!! My partner and I even commented to each other and to all the marvelous staff that the whole day was more like a visit to an upscale Spa than a serious hospital procedure! My recovery today has been amazing and as ever, Ascension St. John in Tulsa is beyond compare! A million thanks to each and every one who put my mind at ease and provided 5 star+ care and service!
