I was looking for a new dentist that is closer to where I live as my original dentist (of 34 years) is almost an hour away. I called to the office to schedule my cleaning which they would only schedule a specific day & time as a new patient, which I understood. I scheduled for the cleaning but expressed my concerns over a cavity. Due to my concern & the length of time between then & my cleaning appointment (scheduled for 12/31) they decided to book an exam & filling appointment for 11/26. I showed up for my appointment at 3:50 to fill out the paperwork for my 4:00 appointment. I was not taken back till 4:20 to begin my exam & to fill in the cavity. The office wanted to obtain X-rays, once that was completed the hygienist came in & began to examine my gum lines and assigning a number (3-7)

I'm going to preface this review by saying that when I started going here, I never had any tooth pain. My former dentist retired so we started coming here. I was hoping I would just do the normal cleanings every 6 months like I had done everywhere else. Unfortunately that was not the case. I was told I I had urgent needs. First one was, I needed a crown. Never had anything done like this before. The most I've had done was cavity fills, but I always trust the doctor so I said of course, if that what I need, let do it. After the crown replacement, I had constant pain in that tooth. The doctor said, oh maybe your tooth was cracked, and maybe it will get better over time as the material they used to attach the crown will fill in the crack. It did not. Went to see this dentist in an emergency situation on Monday 12-22-25 after being in severe pain all weekend and going to the ER with no relief. I have heard horror stories about American Dental but thought how bad can it be. I called first thing in the morning and was given an appointment. Went into be seen and was given a whole mouth Xray. Without even poking around in my mouth the dentist came in and said it was a bad tooth, you can either do an extraction or root canal. I said whatever will get me relief today. So they made an appointment for an extraction at the Hamburg office immediately. The staff were nice, but they claim that you have problems with your teeth when there aren’t any. They are SCAMMING people. My parents and I were looking for a new dentist and went here. All three of us supposedly had issues with our teeth, issues that the previous dentist never mentioned before. They claimed my dad had some kind of infection in his tooth and also told him that he needs to get his wisdom teeth removed. They said my mom needed to get a cleaning every three months instead of six because her teeth are apparently more prone to cavities (something that was never said to her before). The receptionists are always pleasant. I love Heather the hygienist! I really like that I have her every six months to do my cleanings. I am very happy with Dr. Runkle's care, expertise & her very nice personality. This is the best care I've ever had at a dental practice!
