My family had a very concerning experience at this hospital yesterday while seeking care for my 78-year-old mother. When we arrived, she was extremely dizzy, vomiting, and clearly unwell. Given her age and symptoms, we were very worried and hoping she would be treated with urgency and compassion. Unfortunately, the response we received was dismissive and unprofessional. Staff members were whispering and talking about us within earshot, stating that they had “other emergencies” and assuming that my mother was not having a stroke before she had even been properly evaluated. This was deeply upsetting during an already stressful moment. We were also told it would be a four-hour wait just to get my elderly mother a bed to lie down, even though she was actively vomiting and struggling with sev
I went to the emergency room with complaints of internal bleeding. My pcp asked me to go to urgent or the er to see why I was bleeding. I sat in the emergency room for 7 hours then I was called back to room 10 and sat for another hour and half and still....no nurse or even a doctor. I finally went to the nursing station to ask how much longer would I need to wait to be seen The doctor told me that she had no idea. That she was about to leave in 10 minutes and then I would have to wait until the next doctor started. I was very upset. I went and asked who do I need to speak with to make a complaint? The staff said the charge nurse. I told the charge nurse I was out there for 7 hours and waited in the room for another hour and a half! She replied oh we have people waiting for 13 hours! Unreal!
Went to the emergency room Saturday. The 21st throwing up ,chest pain, they took care of me right away. Excellent service, excellent nurses. Then, I had to have a stent put in. Went to icu nurses were excellent.all my doctor's gave me excellent treatment.
Leaving this review because of the experience my mother had last night, to any readers, I would not recommend this hospital to you or anyone. You would be better off going to another hospital in the area (there aren’t many) and even if you went to one 4 hours away you’d still probably receive care faster than at Advocate South Suburban, which I think says a lot. My mother has a chronic kidney condition, and last night she was experiencing a kidney stone. I am her POA and we both agreed that going to the ER was probably the best solution to the IMMENSE pain she was feeling. So I called an ambulance and we made our way to the ER. Upon arrival my mother was immediately given a room, which I would say was the only positive part of this experience. Anyway, my mother was left writhing in pain fo
My family just moved to the suburbs. And a month later I had a extreme medical emergency. I was having a pancreas attack and had to drive myself to The hospital. I didn’t know which hospital to go to because of my insurance but the Lord led me to advocate south suburban. From the interaction with the security guard coming into the er to the day o was discharged every staff member doctor surgeon nurse janitor technician labtician can care assistant was very attentive and helpful. Their was a wait in the er waiting area but a nurse came out and attended to my pain to make me comfortable while I waited. They made me comfortable especially nurse janice when I first got there and niece spring at the end of my care. I’m thankful that I was led there. They did a excellent job handling my emergenc
