Wood County Hospital: Emergency Room

I waited more than two hours in the ER waiting area and the entire experience was extremely upsetting. After that long wait I walked out because several of the doctors and staff were rude and dismissive. As I was leaving one of the doctors actually said, “Don’t leave next time,” which felt accusatory and completely inappropriate — like I was being blamed for seeking care on my terms. I came back shortly afterward because I still needed attention, and the treatment only got worse. When I returned a staff member snapped at me and said, “We have to redo the vitals since you left,” as if I had intentionally caused extra work. I took my daughter to the emergency room this afternoon around 2:00 PM. After reading reviews beforehand, we were hesitant about coming here, but due to the situation, we had no choice. Fortunately, our experience was the complete opposite of what we had read. The front desk staff was extremely kind, patient, and accommodating. They informed us that there would be a bit of a wait due to a sudden rush of patients. They estimated a wait time of 45 minutes to an hour, but we were called back in about 30 minutes, which was much quicker than expected. Once we were taken to a room, the nurse practitioner was very professional and attentive. Nurses are extremely rude and it genuinely feels like these ppl have no clue what they’re doing. “Bedside manner” is non existent and they are even rude over the phone!

Nurses were very annoyed at me I ended up leaving because I was not satisfied with the care I was receiving. I will most likely not be returning to this hospital for care unless I feel like I will get better care. Date: 10/2/25

Terrible bedside manner from the nurse. I felt less than human in her presence. Literally had just discussed being dehydrated with the ER doctor who told me it’s good they’re giving me fluids and the nurse came to discharge me minutes after that. She threw my IV bag IN THE TRASH when it was 3/4 full. Now tell me if I’m going to be billed for 1/4 of an IV bag.... My body needed the fluids but apparently the nurse didn’t think so.
