I really wanted to pick the best place to have my first baby. As a woman of color, it was important for me to find somewhere I could trust the staff and feel comfortable. I had a truly wonderful experience delivering my baby at this hospital. From the moment I arrived, the staff made me feel welcomed and supported. The nurses in Labor and Delivery were especially amazing!!!❤️ My nurses I don't think I will ever forget , Stephanie F, Victoria P, Alex C, just to name a few.. I can genuinely say that most of the time you will have a kind, attentive, and genuinely caring nurse. They took the time to explain everything, made sure I was comfortable, and treated me with so much compassion during such an important and vulnerable time. My wife and I had the best experience here. All the nurses, midwives, and crew were excellent!! We had a horrible experience with UPMC Harrisburg so we decided on giving W&B a shot. It was an hour commute but I would even drive my wife in foot of snow to come here. This staff is phenomenal. Well trained anesthesiologist’s do the epidurals. No nursing assistant is even allowed to perform one there. Even all the OB’s for Penn Health are top notch. The only real negative is the cafe. They don’t have much options and you’ll have the same thing everyday for 3 days

Just wanted to try and help ease the nerves of a fellow woman who might be sifting through the reviews- trying to come to a conclusion on the best place to deliver your baby- anxious about making the right choice! I went to Women & Babies through May Grant for my first baby girl in October and it was the most AMAZING experience. I thought I would deliver early, and instead ended up being 2 weeks late and induced (home girl didn’t want to leave 😂). But, they made it the most enjoyable experience possible and truly made me feel empowered and encouraged to get the job done. We were truly surprised by how much they valued our wishes and wanted us to have the birth experience that we wanted to have. Most traumatizing experience giving birth here- my nurse was horrible I’ve been trying to figure out who she was for years because the incorrectly documented every step during my birth process , my nurse refused to let me call in the Dr when I was having a serious safety event (disconnected and open epidural line) and she stated that I “just had brain damage” and my need for a drs help was unnecessary. Unfortunately I was completely alone with this monster of a woman so I have no witnesses and I couldn’t reach my phone which happened to be right next to her.
