The front desk service today was extremely disappointing. The staff member had a very poor attitude and acted as if customers were bothering her simply by asking normal questions. There was no basic professionalism, no willingness to help, and the interaction felt very uncomfortable. Customer service should at least be polite and respectful, but that was completely missing here. If the business cannot find staff who are willing to provide basic customer service, it may be better not to have someone at the front desk at all. This experience left a very negative impression.

I would rather have all my teeth fall out one by one than go back to this office. Extremely unprofessional and unfriendly staff. It was the only in network option in my area with open availability and now I know why. I showed up to my appointment and was barely acknowledged by the front desk. One lady was busy with another patient while the other girl behind the desk with long black hair straight up ignored me. I sat down for 15 minutes before they called me up to provide my information. At that time, I had already given my instance information to WD when I made the appointment and confirmed it was in network. This place is absolutely horrible! I had a 11am appointment and didn't get seen until 12:19pm. I watched when I was taken to the back the lady who was supposed to do my cleaning went on break. I had to wait 15 minutes more minutes until she returned. Then the two people who were in my mouth for the cleaning wasn't even focused. I guess one person was the boss because she told her something about not being late anymore. Finally I asked when we're you going to floss my teeth, and I was told, “Sorry, we don’t do that here.” I was very surprised and disappointed by that response. Overall, it was a terrible experience. The office seemed to have too many patients scheduled and not enough staff to provide proper care. I will never return to Western Dental in San Mateo again.

This is a terrible dental clinic. I went there last Thursday (Feb 12, 2026) for a teeth cleaning. My appointment was at 10 a.m., but I waited a long time, not getting in until after 11 a.m. All they did was try to sell me financial products, trying to get me to buy their GUM treatment plan. It was supposed to be 6 months of at-home chewing for 10 minutes a day, costing a total of $1200. The actual teeth cleaning only takes 10 minutes and is very unprofessional. What's even more infuriating is that I told them I wanted regular teeth cleaning. However, they ended up charging me $30. This is unacceptable.
