West Dermatology Carlsbad

The practitioner that I see is amazing, but it is really arduous and difficult to get an appointment. I’m okay with having to book out into the future, but just the ability to even get an appointment booked is unnecessarily complicated. Nobody answers when I call and the online booking system is not user friendly.

I was supposed to have my appointment in December but was called the day before my appointment and told I had to reschedule due to the doctor being sick - the rescheduled appointment was for a month out. I arrived for my appointment today finally. admittedly I was 5 minutes late, but I get in line to check in and wait 10+ minutes to be called up. Once it’s my turn to check in they tell me because I’m checking in past the “10 minutes late mark” they won’t be able to see me for my appointment today. Yes, I was a few minutes late to my appointment but I was ready to check in well before they called me up. There’s no reason I shouldn’t have been able to have my appointment today. If I could give zero stars, I would do so without hesitation. This office’s handling of appointments is unacceptable. My wife’s December appointment was canceled by the office and rescheduled for late January. When she finally arrived for that January appointment, she checked in five minutes late. However, due to the receptionist taking an excessive amount of time checking in other patients ahead of her, my wife was not addressed until 16 minutes after her scheduled appointment time. Despite multiple people in line confirming she arrived prior to the 16 minutes, the office claimed she was “six minutes too late” totally ignoring the fact that the delay was entirely caused by their own front desk inefficiency. I've had two appointments at West dermatology now. Just had my follow up appointment yesterday. I see Brittany. She is very kind and straight to the point. She explains what she's going to do and tells me her plan and provides me with suggestions easy to follow. She drained my 2 year ingrown hair I had on my armpit and I am so happy! Everyone at this office is pleasant and professional. I'm having a great experience so far. I am happy with my choice to go to West dermatology in Carlsbad.

Terrible. They don’t answer phone for appointments. And don’t follow up on calls as they state on voice message. Trough website options is very confusing. I was referred to this clinic. Found a close but uncertain option to book. Made an appointing. Came to place. And was informed they don’t accept my insurance. Having to listen the front desk saying to me: “That’s ok!” after my informing that this experience will generate a formal complaint to them and to medical provider that referred me to them. Ridiculous. Disappointing. Now, let’s see if they will continue say: “that’s ok” for not answering phone, not follow up; make us loose time and money driving to location; not caring other people’s experience to clinic.
