Waterloo Pediatric Dentistry

I have to put 1 star in order to leave a review. Otherwise I’d leaving negative. I was referred here for specific treatment for my son which ended up being exactly what he could’ve had done at his regular dentist office. I was told I couldn’t be in the room while my 6yr old ASD son was left alone with strangers while they used nitrous gas and drilled into his tooth. Absolutely not. Not to mention at the initial consult I witnessed Dr. Alison yelling at her staff and all but calling them dumb right in front of me and where patients are treated. I told them I was uncomfortable leaving him alone and was never told this prior and not happy that it was sprung on me as a non negotiable. My son had an appointment scheduled for 9:20 AM. I was running a few minutes late, and at 9:28 the office called asking where I was. I told them I was 2 minutes away according to my GPS. The receptionist said she would put me on hold to ask "the people in the back" if that was okay. I said fine and kept driving. I pulled into their parking lot at 9:30 and parked. At 9:31 - while I was sitting in their parking lot - she came back on the line and told me the dentist has a "strict 10-minute late policy" and would not see my son. I would have to reschedule. Here's the problem: I was NEVER informed of this policy. Not when I booked the appointment, not in any confirmation, not on their website, nowhere. You can't enforce a policy that patients don't even know exists. This is not the first appoi

The staff truly have no compassion, patience, and empathy. They convey no moral equity. They waste your time by taking an excruciating amount of time to get your child seen when you arrive. They take an excruciating amount of time during the appointment. Yet, when you live an hour away and your plans unexpectedly change, causing you to be late, they’d rather acknowledge the strict 10 minute late policy they have than acknowledge the need of the child. We were 11 minutes late. There’s a lot of skills the staff need to work on. I understand a policy is a policy, but it sounds like they expect you to comply with their standards without it being reciprocated.

Please note I had to give at least 1 star to review. I brought my granddaughter in on a referral for some dental work. As soon as the dentist came into the room she asked me if i was the child's mother i said no I'm her grandmother. Do you ask all of your patients this or just certain patients? It's like a switch flipped. She asked for court appointed proof that i was her legal guardian. I let her know she has been with me for almost 9 years and i do not have legal guardianship. I then asked if we could NOT have this conversation in front on my granddaughter. Instead of asking me to step out in the hall she precedes to tell me i need to have birth Mom at the appointment or proof of legal guardianship. Fast, friendly, professional yet fun for my 3 year old! Now the dentist is her favorite place to go and she can’t wait to go back! 100% would recommend!
