If I could give this place 0 stars, that’s what this place would get. My late dad was here for three short weeks and almost died multiple times due to lack of care and knowledge. If it weren’t for him advocating for himself and finding work arounds, he would have died before his time. He had end stage pulmonary fibrosis and their uneducated staff (including the nurse practitioner) were treating him as though he had COPD. Two VERY different things. He needed continuous oxygen. His orders from the hospital from where he was transferred stated this explicitly. Without oxygen for even a minute, his o2sat would go down easily between 50-70. Knowing his condition, they accepted him into their care without a single fully functioning oxygen machine. They broke regularly and did not even call the

From Sue and Ron Quinsey. My father has been here almost 2 weeks. I cannot thank all of the staff enough for their supportiveness in every aspect. From Nichole in Admissions, to both Cindys in finance, to the amazing social worker, Rachel and RN, Crissie. Also Matthew and Stacey in Admin. Plus, Dennis and his staff in recreations. We have not yet met everyone, but it is an incredibly supportive environment. We work in healthcare, and feel the Wa Veterans Home in Port Orchard goes above and beyond. Placing an elderly parent in skilled care is very stressful, and we just cannot express how they have made this process less stressful. They offer a lot of support.

My family member lived here for about 10 months. Any time a request was made, for anything, it was met with buck-passing, excuses, and always delays. When the director sent an email to all families regarding a change in health care protocol, I responded with a few questions. I received a defensive, almost ranting, email in response talking about the state of health care in this country today! Suffice it to say, I never contacted that person again. Be aware that residents can not even receive personal mail at the home; other arrangements will need to be made for their mail. Well, our veteran died a few days before Christmas. I was informed of the death by the night nurse on duty and told the funeral home had been contacted. I have never spoken to, or heard from, anyone from the WVA
