WakeMed Urgent Care - Garner

I give it 1 star because the front desk staff and the medical assistants were excellent. The doctor was worthless. Was in severe pain told to go home and take Tylenol. Only advice was to go to a specialist. Called specialist and the wait time for appointment is 2 months. No wonder this place was almost empty on a Sunday afternoon during the height of cold and flu season. This place is totally useless. I will never go back.

If I could give a zero I would for my son's visit this morning! Until today based on my previous visits, I have not had any negative or bad experiences at this facility. I am writing this based on his feedback and terrible experience this morning 2/2 @ 9:40! Tyler Campos was very ill this morning and wanted to be seen. The female (black) front desk person was beyond rude, obnoxious and unprofessional this is appalling especially for a medical facility! He walked in and stated he didn't have an appt. and she responded in a rude manner "we do not take appts." In addition, after showing his medical card, this FD person reacted by physically pushing back from the card and from him, and responding with a very strange facial expression and stating United Health is out of network? I used to be a big supporter of providers at this location but as of recently the last 2 times i’ve gone i have been seen by PA-C Brittany Wilks and i hope to never see her again. She has a serious issue with not doing her job idk if she’s an uneducated or just pure lazy but she will shew you out the door no matter the issue and tell you come back in 5-7 days if the issue worsens but if she had a single brain cell she would know the issue must be bad if i’m at the drs office, im not sure where she got her license or how she got the job but she seriously needs to be evaluated again! I will not return to this urgent care ever again if she’s going to continue being in shift. Shame to see such a nice office go to shambles because of one bad person! WAKEMED DO BETTER WITH YOUR HIRING PROCESS!!!

If you care about competent care, please read the full review. I have been coming to this urgent care for years. This location has declined due to a lack of quality healthcare providers. This location has started to have a trend of turning patients away to the hospital in order to escape the work they committed to do. Creating even longer wait times at the hospital near by. This happened specifically with Dr. Chao and Dr. Sponseller today. I needed an I&D, as I've had numerous times in the past at this location. I actually just had one in June of 2025 and in the same place at this location. I was moved to the procedure room and asked for a pad to undress and sit down. Amazing. I had the best experience with Dr Reis and her CNA. They were both sweet, professional, and down to earth. Dr. Reis is very thorough. The wait time is really no time. Always a great experience here with the care I or my kids receive. Highly recommended.
