I am extremely disappointed with the care my daughter received at WakeMed Raleigh Children’s Emergency Department. My daughter, who is under two years old, was brought to this ER three separate times (2/5/26, 2/7/26, and 2/10/26) for a recurring MRSA infection. She has a documented history of MRSA and known resistance to certain antibiotics. Despite repeatedly explaining her medical history and what treatments have previously worked, our concerns were consistently dismissed. During the first visit, I informed staff that additional spots were appearing on her legs. This was brushed off, and we were sent home with antibiotics that I specifically stated she is resistant to. Horrible care! After three visits for the same issue, my granddaughter’s symptoms were still not taken seriously. Her mother expressed legitimate concerns each time, yet they were brushed aside. During the last appointment, the attending Craig Frater walked out of the room mid-conversation while we were still trying to ask questions. Watching a physician dismiss a worried mother and frightened child like that was heartbreaking. He lacks compassion, empathy and should NOT be working with children. Families come to a hospital looking for help, answers, and reassurance — not to be made to feel like an inconvenience. We expected care and compassion. We did not receive it.

I've been to Wake Med for three weeks straight because my daughter had a premature baby boy. Everyone is doing good and I had a smooth ride each time there. I advise everyone to come to Wake Med if they need care.

WakeMed Children’s Hospital has honestly been amazing. We work with a lot of families at Kennedy ABA, and so many of them share how kind and helpful the staff here are. The providers really take thier time, explain everything, and make parents feel a lot more calm during a stressful moment. Communication is great too — very clear, very fast, and everyone we’ve interacted with has been super professional. It’s obvious the team truly cares about the kids and does whatever they can to point families in the right direction for follow up care or evals. We really appriciate everything WakeMed Childrens does for the community. They’ve been a fantastic partner and a huge support for the families we serve.

Terrible awful! I need whoever helped my daughter last night investigated. Why would Anyone hire such an incompetent rude man to work with CHILDREN!? He did NOT know how to draw blood and fished under her skin until my husband made him leave (the next lady got it first try), when my scared child asked if it would hurt he shrugged and said maybe. He acted lost confused and overall unaware. I hope he sees this and at the very least knows he made a bad night for a child much worse. The employee pool can’t be that bad that they need people of this caliber it’s embarrassing and it’s my mission for people to avoid this place at all costs! The high reviews must be paid or fake eww just awful.
