Virginia Board of Nursing

I recently moved to VA and needed to transfer my license from another state. I was pleasantly surprised at how quickly everything was processed. In less than a week, I had my approval. Candice is awesome! If you submit everything to them in a timely manner, you will have no issues.

Horrible! I had issues with them 10 years ago transferring my RN and CNM license over from North Carolina. Now I am having problems again adding the simple specialty of PMHNP to my existing license. It has been a month and still nothing. When I call and email I get nothing but the runaround. Whereas I had my license in North Carolina in 5 days and Maryland in 2 weeks. Do better Virginia.

Last year I had a challenging experience with the Virginia Board of Nursing. Their communication was lacking, with unclear instructions and requests for paperwork that turned out to be irrelevant. The process was made more difficult by a lack of friendliness and support. They communicated to me in a manner that made me question whether they actually wanted me to succeed in nursing. Every document clearly stated I'm eligible for my nursing license to be reinstated. They requested information that the courts no longer have. I called the board two years ago and was told that getting my license reinstated would be a simple process. Unfortunately the board made it incredibly difficult. When they told me they couldn't give me a time frame for my license, I contacted a lawyer. Thankfully I receiv

16 minutes of wait was actually 49 minutes. Supposedly opens at 8:15am but until 9am outgoing message was that they are currently closed and hung up on you. Very sad as VA BoN used to be awesome, not anymore.

I just want to say it has been difficult at first to apply for my massage license until Candace Merrick took over helping. At first I filled out the wrong application and it took over a year for someone to even tell me this. By then it expired so I basically started over. Candace communicated very clearly, step by step and within a couple of weeks, I finally got word my license was approved today and am thrilled. Thank you Candace!!!!
