VCU Health Urgent Care at Tappahannock

Staff was kind and gentle. Gave great information about medication and instructions for self care at home. From the PA to the X-ray technician, couldn’t ask for a better experience. Front desk staff kind and wished us well when we left. I hope VCU will invest in a facility upgrade, for these folks deserve it.

I recently went to urgent care. My pain level was over the roof and my body wouldn't stop throwing up from the pain. I threw up 6 times there, and they didn't do an iv or offer it early on, as I was very dehydrated at that point. I threw up my nausea meds but the injection dulled my pain. They did do my vitals and had to do an ekg. They were going to send me to the ER but when the injection kicked in, I was able to sit up finally and the RN gave me the choice for home or er. They also had a medical assistant staying in the room with me so I wouldn't fall off. I've not been to an office that did that for me, so this was nice to see that they cared. I think every office has different employees working at different times, this staff seemed to work well together and showed empathy.

I’ve never had any issues here and I’ve been coming here for my family since 2017. Today specifically my son was seen by Dr. Bob. He was very pleasant and personable. You could see the care he has for the line of work. All the staff here were friendly and made the environment feel comfortable. Thank you Dr. Bob and everyone at VCUHealth Urgent Care.

My daughter stepped on a rusty nail. We went to urgent care. We had 2 patients ahead of us but noticed more coming in and they were being sent back before my daughter, who was bleeding in the waiting room from her foot. I went up to the front desk and asked them why patients were being sent back before her, although she was here prior to them. They advised the facility is by appointment also. I spoke with one of the patients and they were there for a Physical. So this urgent care facility was taking in appointments before urgent care patients. This has to be against policy. There was only one doctor on duty, which I feel they have to meet staffing requirements when performing as a PCP (physicals) and Specialist (urgent care).
