I was referred to VCU Hospital in 2024 because they were purportedly the regional experts in my health condition. In September 2025, I had to discontinue follow-up care with their providers because their billing department was so incompetent. They mistakenly created two accounts for me, they thought that because my insurer had multiple departments that I had two insurance policies, and 30% of their claims were duplicates. On top of that, their billing department representatives are criminally incompetent and unprofessional. The stress and anxiety caused by their biling errors has negatively impacted my recovery and overall wellness. GO ANYWHERE ELSE OTHER THAN THIS HOSPITAL. Their so-called expertise isn't worth it.
I laid in bed for 10 years and all the doctors I went to told me nothing was wrong. Had all kinds of tests. Ortho VA took an X-ray and referred me to VCU and Dr.Placide. I can now hold my head up and he had to fuse my entire spine. I had fractured vertebrae and MISSING discs. It makes me wonder about all the other doctors that said nothing was wrong! Are there that many BAD doctors? Dr.Ricky PLACIDE is “THE BEST”. I think he deserves a BA-ZILLION STARS. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Avoid at all costs. Their billing department is a nightmare and less competent than Comcast. They've been fraudulently trying to collect money that I do not owe for 10 months, despite saying they fixed the issue each. I've had to file a complaint with the consumer financial protection bureau.
My husband has been admitted to this hospital 4 times. Their communication is awful! I unfortunately am not able to be there with him. The first time he was admitted a nurse called with an update. Second time I received three texts. Third time, one text saying I was signed up for texts. He is there now and I am waiting to hear from them. Also, their food is awful! No choice's, you get what you get and what you get is bad? For what it costs to be in this hospital at least serve good/edible food! The doctors and nurses are great!
Their communication lacks. When my dad was there for 44 days in December and January. I had messaged his doctor, no call back or reply. I would call to check up and no answer or they would always say call back. Unfortunately my dad passed away recently and through his mychart informed them to cancel appointments and they deactivated his account with no condolences or a thank you for letting us know, in a matter of minutes deactivated. To bad that is how his bills got paid. Suspect to us , but good thing we already printed his records,results and notes in his mychart.
