Customer Reviews
The people inside the office are kind and caring. Unfortunately this establishment uses offshore / out of office scheduling. The offshore scheduler Danielle, DESPITE my pleading and begging over the phone to book us correctly as my fathers condition is complicated and we are traveling over 5 hours for this appointment, I begged her to make sure she is scheduling us at the hospital, not the surgery center for the cataract surgery pre op exam. I even faxed a letter and documentation over , yet she she still messed it up and scheduled us at incorrect location. We traveled total of 5 hours for nothing with my disabled father for nothing.
We drive all the way, 18 hrs, from Maine every 4 to 8 weeks specifically to see Dr. Brair. That alone should say the world about him. We see him at both this office and at the Makn hospital depending on his openings for appointments. Appointments takes 2 to 3 hrs but thats because it is through. Plan accordingly.
VCU Ophthalmology does well managing a large volume of patients that are treated at their clinic. As a glaucoma patient there, I've never waited long to be called for test and evaluation however that process can appear lengthy depending on appointment time and volume of people. That said, I can't say their wait time is out of the norm when compared to other clinics I've experienced over the past 35 years. Ophthalmology appointments simply take time. I firmly believe Dr. Surhbi Bansal is thorough and will exhaust every effort necessary to see her patients receive the care and treatment they need. However, she could use some help.
I was baffled and could not absorb the fact that the Ophthalmology department was really part of VCU health, taking into account the horrible service and the rudeness of their staff, at check-in in and during the initial consultation. I have always enjoyed the A+ customer service at VCU health, until the day I decided to have a second opinion about my glaucoma, and unfortunately, I had to go thru numerous rudeness and cocky attitudes, especially from their Ophthalmologist Kyra Dorgeloh who apparently put herself on a high pedestal. It was my first visit to the ophthalmology department and my very last.
Working with this clinic and staff is an exercise in futility and frustration. The fact that they don’t take seriously the importance of vision to the extent that they expedite appointments is astonishing. It takes a great deal of effort to get across to them the need for an immediate appointment. Their procedures and policies are a confusion of self-serving behaviors that too often leave the patient waiting for care.
