This is a great place for specialty care. Remember: uptown is for primary, downtown is specialty. Staff is friendly for a VA, place is well kept despite construction. I can only criticize the parking and construction, but that's not unique to this place. Since the PACT Act, the VA system will experience growing pains. This place is no different. Thank you all for your service, my brothers and sisters.
Had a really positive experience with the Same-Day clinic here. Everyone was friendly and helpful. It didn't take as long as I thought it would. Had to wait about an hour to be seen and another hour for the pharmacy. Honestly, it's the best service I've had at any VA hospital to date. Hopefully, this is a trend in the right direction for veteran care.
The downtown VA emergency room was great. They had great customer service even with the computers being slow on their end. The doc was well informed, and he was a veteran. I recommend this downtown VA to any veteran who needs it.
So far I haven't had to spend too much time here. The care I have received here has been, very generally speaking, ok or adequate. They seem understaffed and over worked. Some of the nurses and providers are actually pretty nice. However the majority of the rest of the staff are angry rude and apathetic. They could not care less about you or your issues. Again if you can afford private insurance please use it, you pay for it and you get better care and a better overall experience.
I've got nothing but awesome service and medical care from this VA! They saved my life probably more than once. While there maybe a few free loaders, most of the folks that work here put their hearts and souls in to how they take care of us veterans. Only other VA I'd go to is in Biloxi Mississippi. If your not getting treated right at the Augusta VA, then you are the reason for it. They not perfect but I get better care than private care that just wants money.
