VA Connecticut Healthcare System

Have had mostly positive experiences while using the VA West Haven. It's surprisingly very clean. Can be challenging to navigate to correct departments at times and sometimes it's a pretty long walk away from the entrance. There's often numerous volunteers to help you find your way or give a push in a wheelchair when it's a long distance. Food in the cafe is decent and reasonably priced as well

I give this VA 5 stars. However, the emergency nurses are obnoxious. Giggling like school children it is highly annoying especially when your not feeling well. I think they forget they are serving military men & woman. We want everything dress right dress. There is a certain way they should conduct themselves. I get laughing and joking. There is a time in place for everything. Thank you for everything. Tighten up the ranks!!! Ralph Petruzzelli

I am a US Navy veteran. Of course I go to the VA. This is the most top-notch hospital in the state of Connecticut. By far I am blessed to be looked at here by all the nurses and doctors. And of course when I walk the hallways there are many many heroes

I went to the West Haven VA for help with my service-connected back injuries and CPAP replacement. From the information desk to the ER, no one seemed to know what was going on or how to connect me to the right department. I repeatedly asked for imaging updates and for the on-call social worker, but staff were confused and unresponsive. The ER sent me back and forth without clear direction, and when I fell asleep waiting for information a VA police officer startled me awake by leaning into my face instead of waking me respectfully. The experience left me feeling disrespected and unsafe. Veterans deserve competent, coordinated care. The staff need training on communication, continuity of care, and basic respect for patients—especially those who are permanently service-connected. The entir

I’m a disabled veteran and I’ve been going to this facility for almost 20 years now. I love this VA. The staff is friendly for the most part and always willing to lend a helping hand. Don’t believe the hype. The VA is NOT that bad. What You get out of the VA resources, is the same as what you put into it. I’m grateful for this Va
