Urgent Care of Pismo Beach

Kimberly Anderson, FNP-C removed a large cyst on my back that had been there for several years. It became infected. She removed it with the expertise of a skilled surgeon!!! It is completely gone. Recently, I've had a sore on my calf that is slow to heal. Kimberly, Alissa (NP) and assistants Jenna, Ally, and Kiley have tended to my wound with dressing replacements and treatment over the last several days. It is almost healed. About twice a year I go to Urgent Care of Pismo Beach to have the wax removed from my ears. They are the best at it! Urgent Care of Pismo Beach is the best urgent care I've ever been to!!! I can say they are my primary care providers with my regular PCP as an adjunct!

5 star to a 3 star. This has always been my go-to urgent care. The doctors and nurse practitioners I’ve seen in the past have been helpful, understanding, and professional. Unfortunately, there have been some recent provider changes, and my most recent experience was not positive. I had a phone interaction with PA on duty (12/20) that felt very patronizing. She dismissed my past medical experiences and criticized other medical providers for prescribing medication. When I explained that I lost my CCPN HMO primary care doctor, she insisted this was not possible and lectured me on the law, despite my explaining that I had been assigned to a doctor who was not accepting new patients. She did not believe me and repeatedly stated that she “does this all the time” and can always get patients in.

1 star is too many! We called before going, to ask if they give allergy shots and were told yes, after assessment by the practitioner. We waited over an hour, only to be told by the nurse practitioner, Kimberly Anderson, that whoever told us they give allergy shots is wrong and they would be “insane” to do so. Instead she recommended Flonase, to be used as long as needed, despite telling her that not only has Flonase not worked in the past, it has caused additional congestion. Her advice and demonstration on the proper use of a nasal inhaler was offensive to an adult with experience in allergy treatments. My husband also asked her to look at his back, which has been itchy, and she didn’t. Very unsympathetic and dismissive. No wonder there have been so many 1 star reviews.

I was belittled and talked down on by the doctor. She saw me for less than a minute, came back into the room ten minutes later, and was extremely rude. She then asked if I wanted her to take further steps with a medical plan after belittling me and basically accusing me of certain medical conditions and I said “I’ll just get ahold of my physician for further steps,” and she stormed out of the room. She was extremely rude, made me feel embarrassed for coming into the urgent care for my problem, and was completely unhelpful. I walked out feeling worse than I did walking in. I will never be returning to this urgent care ever again.

I really think the people that downgrade Pismo Beach Urgent Care are downgrading it because they may have to wait a while, depending on time of day, before they see someone. Because i can't see them downgrading for inferior advice or practice, which is, after all, the #1 priority, in my opinion. What is important to me is quality of care, and that is where I give them the highest marks. I have been to them three times in the past two years and, while I am not in the medical field (I was in biotech), I have several family members who are doctors and nurses. Each time I have reviewed with them what Pismo Beach has prescribed and each time they have been impressed with the quality of service and expertise I have received.
