UR Medicine Urgent Care – Perinton

I walked in to Perinton Urgent Care last week, with what I thought was a simple upper respiratory infection. Upon a quick consult, the nurses, PA, and Dr. Livingston knew there was something more serious happening. They quickly did an X-ray and based on my blood oxygen levels and symptoms, Dr. Livingston immediately sent me to Strong Memorial via ambulance. I was surprised and caught off guard. But Dr. Livingston recognized the urgency and sprang into action. My lung infection was masking a more significant cardio/pulmonary issue and thanks to the team at Perinton for their quick action, and the care team at Strong, I will make a full recovery. Went around ten o'clock this morning and didn't have to wait only a few minutes to get called. The nurse who took me back to the examining room she was very nice and courteous and kind and professional. So was the Nurse Practitioner he was to. Made me feel comfortable and relaxed seeing I was very new to them as a patient. I would definitely go there again if I need to.

I am extremely disappointed with my recent urgent care visit. I presented with a severe sore throat, extreme pain to swallow and eat, a possible ear infection, and a fever, but was dismissed with a diagnosis of allergies and advised to take over-the-counter allergy medication. Despite the absence of tonsils, which I communicated, I stated that it would be harder to see the symptoms of strep or the flu and they still did not do a further evaluation of my symptoms. I know I do not have a degree in the medical field, but I feel a school nurse would have done a better examination of me and gotten down to the bottom of my pain. Nobody is looking forward to an urgent care visit and the staff at the Perinton Urgent Care were sensitive to that during my visit. Each nurse and provider I came in contact with was friendly and compassionate, I felt heard and received the quality care I needed.

I went here a few weeks ago, suspecting I had an ear infection and figured it would be easier to go here than my primary care. When I walked in and got in line, I observed the woman working the front desk yell at an older woman to move faster so she could get her information. While sitting in the waiting area (for what felt like forever but was probably about an hour) the woman who was working the front desk would very loudly state peoples home addresses/phone numbers when asking if they were current. In addition, a man came in to deliver a manilla envelope, and I heard her loudly bragging about how drunk she got when celebrating earlier in the week.
