This review is for Legacy at Springhurst Memory Care - the staff is insufficiently trained to handle mid-to moderate dementia including Alzheimer's. Employees have likely only had the minimum of Indiana mandatory training. If the resident is exit-seeking or perceived as difficult Springhurst staff will document an instance of aggression or being a risk to the health and safety of staff or other residents and will send them off to a geriatric psych facility. They can do this in less than 24-hours without the approval of the health care advocate by obtaining a court-order. This results in tens of thousands of dollars in geriatric psych bills, medication the family has no say over, and a lot of stress to the person with dementia and the family.
