The Grand Rehabilitation and Nursing at Batavia

Ongoing concerns about quality of care and communication: My grandfather was a resident at The Grand Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center of Batavia, and our family experienced ongoing issues that raise serious concerns about the quality and safety of care provided. During his stay, there were repeated issues with feeding and hydration not being provided as scheduled despite physician orders. Family members frequently had to call to ensure feeds were started. His feeding pump also malfunctioned multiple times without consistent monitoring. He was eventually hospitalized with severe dehydration, aspiration pneumonia, and sepsis, and the hospital physician questioned whether he had been receiving adequate nutrition and fluids while at the facility. Overall, I had an amazing experience when I arrived at The Grand for my rehabilitation. Starting from my social worker, Angele to the wonderful nurses and nursing aids. My physical therapy team was by far the most patient, caring, supportive, gentle and encouraging team. I would like to give a special thanks to Ben and Abby, my physical therapists Who worked so diligently with me to get me back on my feet. Thank you to the entire staff who made me feel at home and comfortable each day that I was there, I will forever be grateful.

The Grand is a rehab place and nursing home that does an amazing job with too few resources. (Health care in the US is in a bad state.) I recently had a family member in the Grand for two months' rehab. The people are wonderful: OT, PT, Nurses, aides, and all the staff are generally kind and thoughtful, respectful and want to help you help your loved ones.

Both my in laws are at The Grand Rehabilitation & Nursing at Batavia. I am very happy and very pleased with how both of my in laws are doing. The Staff is very caring and always working hard to meet our goals of keeping both of them safe and mobile. When questions arise the staff from social workers to the CNA, are always willing to help to answer them. We have found and we have seen that the staff is very caring. Yes the building is old and looks run down, but we are very happy.

This place is a dump that is forgotten about, and so are the residents. They are severely understaffed. Everything they put on their website is a lie/scam. There is no chef preparing chef quality food, there is no hotel experience, residents are put into double bedded rooms, with hospital beds, they ignore residents calling for help, they don’t check on residents, nor help them get dressed. It had an odor of urine and staleness in the air. The only place to put photos of family is an 8x10 cork board. This place needs the state involved, investigated, and/or shutdown. If you put your family there, you might as well say your goodbyes. This place will kill whatever spirit your family member has left. Also the potholes in the parking lot, gutters hanging. This place is the worst!! You leave fe
