I took my 15-month-old for her checkup, and my daughter has been Dr. Tholany’s patient since birth I absolutely love her! She’s amazing with children, always caring, thorough, and takes her time to answer all my questions. Her medical assistants are also wonderful very sweet and patient. However, the front desk staff, particularly Yolanda and the lady who sits next to her at checkout, really need improvement. They come across as unfriendly and uninterested, which makes the experience unpleasant. They don’t greet you or make any effort to be welcoming. As someone who works in the medical field myself, I know how important it is for the front staff to represent the office positively they’re the first and last impression of the practice. It’s disappointing to see such a great doctor and tea
I’m extremely disappointed with Texas Children’s Pediatric. We were charged almost $800 for a routine visit for my child—something that should have been straightforward and affordable. At no point were we informed that we were out of network with our insurance. This critical detail was never disclosed during check-in or before the appointment, which feels incredibly deceptive. When I called to address the issue, the response was unprofessional and dismissive. I asked to speak with someone who could help, and was told that "Monika"—who apparently is the supervisor —was very dismissive and blamed me for not bringing this up before my kid's appointment and that she never in her 20 years heard of a parent who doesn't check before coming. She repeatedly avoided engaging with me and refused to
Both of my children have been patients of Dr.Jada Etienne, MD for a few years now. She's one of best pediatricians at Texas Children's. She is a compassionate pediatrician and professionally attentive, she has a sweet personality. Each visit with her my voiced concerns are heard and I never feel rushed. My children absolutely adore her! Dr.Etienne's nurse's and medical assistances are professional and friendly. The front office staff are professional and welcomes everyone with a warm friendly smile making check-in easy and quick!
We had issues with this practice a few years ago but things seem to have gotten better. Unfortunately, things seem to be on the downswing again. The providers are good and it is convenient, which is why we haven’t pulled the plug on switching, but the service from the front desk and back office team at this practice is truly abysmal. A few recent incidents: 1) our 15 month old had a head injury at daycare in the morning. The mechanism of injury was not severe so we did not want to go to the ER. We called our doctor, thinking this is the sort of thing that, at 9:30 am, they should be able to work him in to get checked out. NOPE-no schedule availability, no guidance on options beyond the ER, and no ability to speak with a nurse quickly to get input on next best steps. We called another Texa
They did not inform me or my family that my son's insurance was no longer in-network even though we have been coming here since his birth. Instead, I got a surprise bill. For a perfectly healthy child's annual check-up, they charged us nearly $800.00. And even after explaining the situation, they didn't make it right. So, Texas Children's is out to steal your money, not to provide healthcare. I would encourage you to look for something better if it exists and to fight for something better if it's not. Our healthcare system is broken and getting worse. We don't have to accept it. There's a better way.
