First off, don’t call yourself an ‘emergency’ place at all if it takes you 4-8 HOURS to seek ANY kind of treatment. She arrived at 1pm, and called me at 6pm to say she’s STILL waiting. Once she and our daughter were ‘admitted’ the resident came wanted to run some tests. Then said “I need to talk to a supervisor”, that’s great, but that’ll take a couple of hours. (She literally can’t walk with one leg and her condition is getting worse.) I’m contacting the patients advocacy, I want an explanation for why the wait was so long. After that, I’ll contact the hospitals administration through email describing EXACTLY what happened, it’ll be timestamped, with a request of a written response. I’m then contacting the state health department for neglect. Because judging from the previous reviews

We arrived at 3 p.m. by ambulance transfer from another emergency room because my baby needed a pediatric neurologist. Then we waited. And waited. At 9:30 p.m., a nurse came out with a clipboard—yes, in the year 2026—to check off which patients were still huddled in the lobby and tiny waiting area. That’s when we learned the intake nurse never told us we needed to fill out additional paperwork. Since we had already completed forms at the previous ER and were transferred directly, we assumed the information had been sent over. Silly us for assuming that, in the second decade of the 21st century—after 50 years of digital systems talking to each other, 30 years of HIPAA, and near-universal hospital use of Epic’s MyChart—our records would follow us. We finally saw the neurologist at 10:40 p.

I am writing to formally express my deep concern and dissatisfaction with the level of care—if it can even be called care—that my daughter and I have received during our visit today. After more than six hours in the emergency department, my daughter has yet to receive any meaningful medical attention. We were only recently moved from the waiting area to a room, and during that entire time the only actions taken were collecting a urine sample and performing an X-ray. My daughter is in excruciating pain, yet no treatment has been provided. Multiple doctors and nurses have come in repeatedly asking the same questions about her back pain, despite her having explained her symptoms numerous times. We were told that blood work would be done and that she would receive medication, but neither has

Okay after reading some great comments I have a better feel for what Texas Children’s Hospital is. Plenty of time to read been here 5 hours. I’ll start by saying Texas Children’s took EXCELLENT care of my daughter when she had to be transferred by ambulance at 6 months old. So of course when needing a second opinion on a potential life threatening diagnosis we decided to make the hour drive and come back to the place whose medical staff we know and trust. Triage receptionist (nurse?) after seeing our ultrasound results tried to discourage us from signing in - saying we would just be getting a referral to an outside dr, no further action would be necessary - which I found highly irregular coming from a non-medical personnel. Upon reflection I realize she was trying to explain, in a rounda

*Know This* ER = Life threatening emergency= death is definitely a possibility and soon. If kid's case isn't clear, call urgent care first. They can handle a LOT. Why is it rated so badly? The LOW STAR votes on here are because (1) the purpose of an ER eludes them, (2) they got a Resident and thought it was a real doctor, or (3) they learned the hard way to pack like you're going camping cuz you gonna be here awhile! Why the long wait? This is the TOP FIVE children's hospitals in the NATION. People come from all over Texas to get seen by any doc in the ER to get a referral into the TX Children's system. Also, Houston is massive with not many pediatric ERs. Special needs kids... this is literally the only ER that's ever been able to work with my daughter ❤️❤️❤️ Why 4 stars from me? I'm s
