Stop & Shop Pharmacy

Stop & Shop Pharmacy in Somers is a busy and well-loved location that I visit often. It is clearly understaffed—there are rarely more than two employees working, and they are always busy. Despite this, the staff consistently provide excellent customer service with great patience and attention to detail. I have witnessed a pharmacist working on a computer in the back actually leave the pharmacy Department in order to help an older gentleman choose an over-the-counter sleep pill, and took the time to briefly educate him. Those are the types of amazing people working here ! In nine years, I’ve experienced zero prescription errors. Their professionalism and dedication, even while overworked, truly deserve recognition. I must say that I have generally been pleased with this establishment, as I am a regular visitor. However, I am compelled to share my dissatisfaction with today's experience. This morning, my brother and I brought bottles for redemption. Upon attempting to redeem them, a staff member informed me that we were unable to do so, as the policy is per household. Although the customer service representative was pleasant, she reiterated the same information and directed me to the posted notice outside, which she stated the policy was per household, not per individual. When I inquired further, the notice indicated per person and did not mention household. I had already informed them and presented photos of the law. I witnessed a cashier named Kim refuse to allow another customer to cover a single mother who was a few dollars short because she was black. I know this because she specified by saying "people like her don't deserve help". this happened nearly 3 months ago and she still works there, so I guess stop & shop employs bigots with no qualms.
