Shawnee Mission Pain Center

After several appointments scheduled with various Advent facilities to manage and treat the chronic pain I've been suffering through for years, I hit a dead end with Kimberly. She basically told me there was nothing they can do for me unless I spend hundreds of dollars on another appointment at another Advent clinic. I understand healthcare has changed. I've worked in healthcare. I know there are ways to make healthcare more affordable. It's as though Kimberly believes her job is to "screen" patients on if they are willing to drop $$$ or not. When I told her I just wanted PT atm, she told me that I should just get that from my PCP. I decided to not move forward with my appointment after her condencending call and the fact that she told me to go to my PCP anyway. Kimberly became defensive

I have bad experiences with this office. My doctor sent me here to help manage my pain and they have done nothing for me. The muscle relaxers don't work. I keep falling down. I got fired from four jobs now because of the pain and they don't want to do anything to help. I have seen several different doctors now. The nurse who called me today when I was explaining my pain to her was very rude for no reason.

The receptionist is unprofessional, doesn’t listen, is condescending and rude. Most people at pain clinics don’t want to be here and are in pain. Not listening and not addressing my questions is not good. Terrible customer service. The only other time I was here it was a similar experience. By the time I reached the procedure room, the Dr knew we “had words.” I saw her make a comment to the nurse as I walked off so it traveled fast. I’ll likely go to another facility if I can. She may just need coaching or perhaps she’s just stressed herself. HOWEVER, the rest of the staff is excellent. Dr Ferns did a great job with my SI Injections and the NPs are also terrific. Grateful for them. Management: please talk to her.

I was told there was nothing they could do for me- I have pain. I complained, an investigation happened, and I was told my doctor requested something they don’t do; why would they see me on a referral for services they don’t provide? They didn’t. There was no service requested by my doctor, confirmed. So I asked that the complaint be elevated: “Thank you for sharing this with me, Storme. There are not enough words to express how appreciative we are to this facility.! Everyone was so caring and professional. From the staff in the front office, to Kathy, to Summer, to April, to Dr. Trempy. This team worked so hard today to help relieve my pain. God bless you all!
