This hospital does not deserve one star. I arrived at the Emergency Room by ambulance with severe chest pain, difficulty breathing, and a broken sternum. After triage, I was left in a hallway outside the ER in extreme pain and struggling to breathe. While still in the hallway, I was taken for a chest X-ray and then returned to the hallway. Blood was drawn while I was sitting there. The X-ray technicians were kind and professional, but no patient in respiratory distress should be treated in a hallway. After that I waited over an hour. I went to the admissions desk twice to report that my pain was worsening and my breathing was getting harder. I was told both times that a nurse would be notified. No one came. We went in on a routine MRI and even though my daughter is non-verbal Autistic and needed help throughout the process she was treated with respect and dignity. I was very impressed when we were even asked if we would like prayer before they took her back. It was a heart touching moment. On the way there we enjoyed an amazing sunrise! God is Good! On January 15th, we brought my dad, Willie Harold McLeod, in after calling paramedics because he was in severe pain. My dad had Alzheimer’s, a bad UTI, and kidney failure, and we had been desperately trying to get help from a local hospice company Pruitt that ignored our phone calls for two nights in a row and left us on hold. From the moment we arrived at the ER, everything changed. The emergency room doctor (I wish I could remember his name to thank him personally) showed us incredible compassion and treated my dad like a human being. Thankful for the EMS that brought me to the ER and the tests I had but not too happy with the Drs. They ran the test then let me go without even a diagnosis or what the tests results are. They told me nothing! If my partner didn’t have My Chart with my information I wouldn’t know ANYTHING! Do better SGMC! I should have stayed in Nashville and went to SGMC Berrien Campus as it is closer to home and much better care.

My experience at SGMC Valdosta was less than stellar. I arrived 730PM Level 8 pain, vomiting from pain. I was sat in the waiting area after intial triage of vitals. My husband asked for help as my leg continues to swell from the accident and the pain worsened. No luck. I asked a passing nurse at 930pm for an ice pack. She said she would get one. She never did. Kicker was when I was taken back I saw where the ice packs were feet away from the door I was sitting near when I asked her. 1AM I knocked on the triage door and Debbi the RN, my angel, opened it. She took my vitals, she got me two ice packs, she updated my chart. She spoke to me like I mattered.
