Select Specialty Hospital - York

Our family’s experience at Select Specialty in York was nothing short of appalling. Walking into the unit on the 5th floor was like walking into a wall of urine stench — and sadly, that smell was a perfect preview of the “care” our loved one received. Every single day, the patient was left lying in their own bodily fluids for extended periods of time, sometimes up to an hour. Not once — daily. No human being should ever be treated that way. There was even a day when the patient was left shut in the bathroom with no call button for 45 minutes. One time is all it takes to prove how careless and unsafe this place is. On one occasion staff insisted the patient swallow pills despite having a tube in place to remove fluid. It was cruel, unnecessary, and showed zero concern for the patient’s comf

Very glad we found this place. My wife came up here from the D.C area for treatment. They treated her and our family wonderfully. She was on a ventilator and they were able to wean her off, give her rehab, and and got her strong enough for the next steps. The staff were very attentive and never complained. Kept me updated and worked with me for any paper work I needed for work and FMLA. They helped us in a very difficult time and even guided us. I thank them from the bottom of my heart.

I was a patient for 20 days. From the CEO to the cleaning staff all was amazing. The CEO was not just a name he is present. The staff is amazing. The cheering and clapping I received from everyone on the floor was very encouraging. Being in the hospital can be a very traumatic experience so your care team is very important. At this hospital I received the respect, compassion and care that’s hard to find in healthcare today. When I left I felt like I was leaving family.

Our experience with this care facility was nothing short of heartbreaking. We trusted them to care for our loved one and help them transition to the next level of recovery—but instead, we encountered a lack of urgency, poor communication, and minimal advocacy when it mattered most. While a few nurses and aides showed true compassion and gave their all, they were visibly overworked, and many others seemed disengaged or simply burned out. Therapy was inconsistent, wound care was limited, and even staff admitted they were stretched too thin to provide the level of care patients deserve. I also want to shout out. Devon Carlos and Cassie for always being great at what they do .. you saved a life and I honestly appreciate that from my/her heart thank you for all that you do..
