Select Specialty Hospital - Saginaw

I went to see my sister on a Sunday she knew arrival time and wanted to be in a chair prior to us getting there. Nope not only not sitting in a chair but in the bed in feces and urine waiting for someone to answer the call light. She needed to be suctioned they call respiratory from God knows where in the hospital he’s coming from. I asked him if a nurse can do it instead of waiting for him to come from God knows where, he said oh ya a nurse can they just don’t like to. Well maybe the nurse should sit and wait that time out like patients have to to see how it feels. Her nurse came in and gave her meds at 10 am and two hours later I wondered why her NG tube was clear when the food was yellowish/brown. So I investigated and found it dumping her nutrition on her chair and the floor. Two hours

I would not recommend this facility for anyone, my mom was there for almost two weeks and it was a ghost town. Hardly any staff and to many patients to handle with that amount. Staff sitting on their phones in the halls on Facebook, and when you would press the call button we timed it once at just under 53 minutes for someone to come in. They said they were waiting on approval for 3 days from insurance to transfer her out to a rehab facility but was a lie and they had not sent it when we called insurance. Don’t take any of your family to this facility until it gets a good administrator to clean house and get care the way it should be.

The staff are friendly and go out of their way to make you comfortable. I recieved great care and was very happy with my experience. My room was kept clean and so was the physical therapy area. I had the chance to see and hear the staff interactions with other patients and their families and it was always positive. I was very ill and very scared when I arrived and the staff worked hard to make me feel safe and cared for.

I do NOT recommend this place at all! First I want to say this post is only for this floor as I didn't have any reason to actually be in the covenant areas of the hospital. Just floor 8 select specialty Hospital. I would not take a dying cow here. The floor is gross. Trash and equipment everywhere in the hall. My mom was moved there from Grand Rapids. She was never given a med that she needed tell after being there for 2 weeks. The neurologist didn't even know she was there for 2 weeks. Her room was always gross. Trash on the floor, toilet looked like it had not been cleaned. Now there where some good nurses there but then there where some who just seemed to not care. My mom always had phlegm on her all over coming from her trach. Push the call button but no one would come. Have to hangout
