Initially I thought this office was pretty good. I have a thyroid condition called graves disease and well as a few other problems that required me to start a long year and half treatment. Doctor Markmen was knowledgeable and very to the point on what needed to be done. The issue is their abysmal billing department. I got called around July 2025 about an outstanding balance from 2024 that they said my insurance didn't cover and now I was on the hook for over $1,000. Keep in mind that was amost a year later, and i hadnt been contacted about any billing issues until then. I check with my insurance, got a contact and a reference # like thier billing office requested and asked them to handle the situation, as my insurance said I shouldn't owe anything, they paid out all of the claims, and that
This review is for the SCKE staff at the Irvine location. They don’t have a page on google but it’s the same office, just a different location. I came one month postpartum with my baby to get labs done for my ongoing thyroid issues. It was pouring rain that day (Feb 16) and as soon as we arrived at the office, my baby pooped. I asked if they had a changing table, they said no. I asked if they had keys to the main bathroom which did have a changing table and they said they don’t give that out. I asked if I could use one of the empty rooms to change my baby and they said no. I asked if I could change her on one of the chairs then and the staff told me I wasn’t allowed to do that and I could change her on the floor of the bathroom if I needed to change her. While the staff is friendly, I have repeatedly had a terrible experience with billing. After being a patient for the last 15 years, I’m leaving because of billing. Went in for a standard annual preventative health exam, nothing wrong with me, and was charged over $200 for diagnostic labs I did not request. There was nothing wrong with me to diagnose! After 8 phone calls back and forth with them and insurance, I still have a $100+ bill for bloodwork I never asked for, and did not need. They refuse to remove the charge. So patient be warned, they will run unneeded tests without your consent and charge you for them anyway. I want to start by saying that the front desk staff, the doctor, and every person I interacted with at this facility were extremely nice and professional. This is what makes the following situation so disappointing. Usually, when you see a negative review about billing, it's a frustrating tale about an insurance company. This review is different. My issue lies squarely with the billing practices at SCKE Medical Group, which seems to be a systemic problem of overcharging the insurance company on your behalf. I was referred here by the Memorial Group. I have PPO insurance and saw an endocrinologist. If I have a complaint, I usually contact the business privately and share my concern, but in this case, I felt like it was so egregious that I needed to do this. Lori
