Fawn Leaves Chope- ER Staff 100% As the clock neared 11 p.m. on September 29, a quiet miracle unfolded outside the Emergency Room at San Mateo Medical Center, affectionately known as Chope. A family of deer appeared as if gently stepping away from the busy world inside and crossing the driveway, bringing a moment of sublime peace and grace. It was a reminder that life, in all its forms, remains delicate yet resilient. In that tranquil moment, gratitude welled up for the unseen guardians of life—animal control, the SPCA, humane society, law enforcement, fire rescue, EMS, and the devoted staff in emergency care—who work tirelessly every day and night to protect and extend the lives of every creature on this planet. Took my son to the ER, all of the nurses / doctor were incredibly kind to us and very sweet to him even though we were obviously stressed and grumpy. The wait was awful but once we were attended to, it went smoothly and quickly! Many bad reviews here and I wanted to let people know good experiences happen too. 🤗

My wife recently had to be hospitalized and the treatment was the best possible, the whole team was excellent especially in the ICU, the only point I would improve would be in the emergency screening, to try to do something faster when they are cases that really need more attention.

Since my last visit, things have improved significantly. The staff has become much more understanding, and the appointment times have been shortened. I am simply amazed by these changes! It has obviously gotten much better.

This was my 1st visit to SMMC Emergency and they provided excellent service. The staff were extremely friendly and knowledgeable. They helped do an initial diagnosis and completed referrals for my follow-up appointment. They even submitted my pharmacy needs. Thank you SMMC for everything!!!
