I will be honest. I'm incredibly picky when it comes to Doctors, especially Orthopedists. Almost twenty-three years ago, when I was 18 years old, I was hit and run over by a large commuter bus. As a result of the accident, I broke my right ankle and badly damaged my left leg which eventually had to be amputated six inches below the knee. Orthopedists have been a part of my life ever since. I'm so thankful to Dr. Robert Christian (referred to me by Dr. Nana Sarpong) who suggested I see Dr. Van De Velde regarding my hip labrum tears. It’s very rare to come across a doctor who gives the time attention and sensitivity that Dr Van De Velde does. He is extremely knowledgeable and made sure we understood everything. His staff is also superb especially his Assitant Hannah!

Im currently one year post op , I had a Meniscus Tranplant and Acl Reconstruction done by Dr.Van de Velde and I feel so much better than before the surgery. Before the surgery Dr. Van de Velde took his time explaining the surgery and answered all my questions regarding It. The staff was also very helpful and friendly throughout the whole process. Short Answer: Amazing doctor. Incredibly lucky I found him when I did. Long Answer: I had lost complete hope in the medical system in NYC, until I was fortunate enough to find Dr. Samuel. I had suffered a serious knee injury (ACL + meniscus tear). The first orthopedist I saw immediately pushed for surgery, and I almost agreed—until something in me insisted on getting a second opinion. Pressed for time and desperate, I searched for another orthopedist and found Dr. Samuel. His availability gave me hope, even though he was listed as a pediatric orthopedist. There is no one like Dr Van De Velde . Besides that he is extremely knowledgeable and a skilled physician, he is also a kind and friendly person. He takes plenty of time to explain everything patiently and in clear detail, even to the kids. One does not feel rushed at all. He is not quick to push treatment and is always helpful with conservative approaches that can help deal with the issue.
