My mother was in Sam Keep for the better part of year. It one on the great regrets of my life that we put her in there. The care she received was minimal. Echoing what another review said the place seems dangerously under staffed. The staff that worked there appeared un-engaged and seemed to be chained to the nurses sattions. Multiple times when I arrived and found my mother needding to be changed and to have been left in that condition for more than a day. Only to be told by the nurses that they would get to it with no sense of urgency. During the time my mother stayed there, they managed to throw out her false teeth after she left them on a dining tray. This happened not once but twice. Resident to staff ratios are dangerously inadequate. Many days your loved one and 20 other patients are left with two exhausted women for the entire day. It is dangerously understaffed. And the few staff they have are paid less than fast food workers, but working six times as long each shift. It is completely normal for two people with no college education, no medical training, and no sleep to be left in charge of 15-20 fully dependent, extremely impaired adults for sixteen hours each day. This is the usual policy. Your loved one is left stewing in her own waste, dehydrated, and mentally bereft for hours. Because Samaritan does not care about safety, staffing, hygiene, nor humane treatment.

My mother has been a resident of Samaritan Keep for almost 2 years. I couldn't ask for better care for her. The nurses are all kind to her and she loves them too. I am called with monthly updates on her check ups.

You should judge a nursing home when you visit it, and you will like this one!! Residents here are clean, happy and well taken care of. You will find them singing in the lobby with a piano player, getting their hair done in the salon, or enjoying a meal in the cafeteria with families and friends.

Nurses are more worried about their break then helping patients, they take forever to get to patients when they buzz for help, place is always understaffed. Jeanine on 3rd floor is rude and doesn't know what she's talking about, said my mother in law was faking not being able to move well and when it was time for my mother in law to have her pain meds Jeanine said it wasn't time for them even though it was til hubby did the math for her on the time. Next day mother in law passed away. This place is HORRIBLE if you truly love your elderly ones DO NOT put them in here, they will go from needing minimal help to a hoyer lift for help before they pass away.
