Salem Health Specialty Clinic - Neurology

Nothing says "healthcare" like being treated like a nuisance before you even see a doctor. The neurologist was fine, but the receptionist Anna was rude, dismissive, and clearly uninterested in being helpful. I would not recommend this place.

I had multiple seizures due to encephalopathy, and was sent here by my doctors only to get a call after my first appointment to tell me that they’re canceling my next appointment, that was to get my MRI to ensure that my swelling had completely gone down. they gave me no other alternatives, I wasn’t given a referral to any other neurology clinics. Just a call saying that they’re canceling my appointment due to them, not working with my insurance anymore, rather than ask me if I would mind paying out-of-pocket for my services they just canceled my appointment. Good job guys. * I do feel the need to add that I’ve waited since August 2024 for this appointment, just for it to get canceled when it’s a month away from the date of the appointment.

If I could give negative stars, I would! Dr. Daniel Chen at Salem Health Neurology is easily the worst physician I have ever experienced. He is rude, dismissive, condescending, and proves that he has no compassion or empathy for his patients. I went to him multiple times and each time he made it clear he had no interest in any questions I had and had zero interest in explaining anything to me. He minimized my pain (chronic daily migraine for 6 months- that’s right, a 6 month long migraine!) and totally botched up the Botox injections he did for migraine. I now look like I had a major stroke as my left eye and brow have dropped down my face. The injections, as anyone will tell you, are extremely painful and he acted irritated at my pain response. ADDENDUM: I received a call back from the clinic manager Cecilia 3-days after my initial call to schedule follow-up and I was notified that I would NOT be able to be seen in their clinic due to the normal MRI brain/neck. The office manager continued to persist that because the MRI was normal I do not need to be seen. I emphasized that the reason for the referral was not because of the MRIs, and that the referral was for my left hand numbness/pain/weakness which continues to persist. Even with the ER documentation showing this, they refused to schedule me a follow-up. She reportedly spoke with the neurology medical director who refused to see me. Dr Hill was so understanding and explained everything to me. I can definitely recommend him to family and friends. I wish more doctors were like him.
