RVA Pediatrics- Patterson

We had a very disappointing and scary experience with Dr. Subedi who did not ask our permission to retract our two month old son’s foreskin on his uncircumcised penis. In fact, she did not even know he was uncircumcised despite it being obvious and also our third visit with her. It is in his records that he is uncircumcised and we also have directly told her at a previous appointment. She then proceeded to tell us something was wrong with his urethra and then took that back after I told her again that he is uncircumcised and to not do that. She got defensive when I became visibily upset. I find it shocking and unacceptable for a professional to behave in this manner. My son’s well being is my top priority and I would not recommend Dr. Subedi to examine anyone’s baby.

We've loved the care and attention our kids have received from Dr. Terry, Thornton Beale, Cole Hawthorne, and the rest of the staff. We've found them thoughtful and attentive. We've never felt rushed, and they've even visited our kids at the hospital to check in during unexpected visits.

We have loved coming here! We see Dr. Subedi and she is wonderful. We started seeing her when our baby was 3 days old she has been nothing but supportive and helpful. She listens well and always leads us to making the decision that’s best for us and our baby. She never judges. We also have seen Tammy many times. She is fantastic and has been so helpful and knowledgeable, making feeding seem less daunting. Love the team here!!

After having a terrible experience with our first pediatrician as first time parents, we switched our son to RVA peds when he was 4 months old. The experience, in particular Dr. Cole Hawthorne, was night and day. He truly is the definition of a care partner - he listens to your concerns (and as an anxious mom I always have many!) and acknowledges them, but assuages them and takes the time to educate you on what is happening with your child. He is amazing with our son and truly cares about his patients, which is demonstrated both through bedside manner and through his follow ups. We have also seen several other providers at RVA peds during sick visits, such as Dr. Christian, (they are open 7 days a week, which is incredible) and we haven't had one yet that hasn't given us the same kindness

We are military and our five girls have seen 5 different pedestrians throughout life due to our constant moving. We have always been blessed with good physicians however this pediatric team ( all doctors, receptionists, nurses, lab technicians, etc..) have been amazing in caring for each of our girls individual needs. They are very knowledgeable, thorough, patient, prompt, with great bedside manners. My kids love everyone and we feel they honestly go above and beyond to care for our kids. We have been here 2 years and we have had a wonderful experience. We would recommend to anyone. The whole team is amazing .
