Very disappointed, how I was treated. I was in severe pain from perforated diverticulitis, sepsis. I had suffered at home more than 12, hours. I couldn't get comfortable from pain so I would move rock my body to ease the pain. On nurses report they wrote anxiety yes I do suffer because 2 years I have had many health issues. Given different diagnosis, wrong meds. Etc. Given a injection of Haldol, telling me it was for , something else, tricking me. my body was going in shock, they are the professionals could they not see I was in destress, have compassion. You need surgery. Not explaining I know mam it sounds scary. No traumatized your going to have a poop bag. This and that. I kept asking for nebulizer treatment non stop, didn't get. I was supposedly so ill. Less than 72 hours send home.
I recently had an excellent experience at Rio Grande Regional Hospital and would highly recommend it. The most outstanding aspect of my stay was the great staff. From the nurses and technicians to the administrative personnel, every individual I encountered demonstrated genuine care and professionalism. They truly go above and beyond in their efforts to ensure patient comfort and well-being. Their consistent attentiveness made a significant difference in my recovery, as I always felt my needs were being anticipated and addressed promptly. My husband had an ultrasound sound done as outpatient today. The staff is so nice & competent. As I was waiting for him during a very short procedure, a prayer was said to our Heavenly Father on the PA! It was said in English & Spanish! It was a wonderful surprise! I'm so excited to hear that! I had a procedure in January 2026 at the Rio grande Regional hospital. The registration desk, the doctor, the pre op and the PACU nurses were great! But the billing department is the most difficult one to work with! First of all the billing was inaccurate and you can’t reach anyone easily to clarify the details. When you reach them, they are not even willing to share the EOB! This is after BCBS paid them $7250. I paid them $3400. This is for a procedure they would charge about $4000 if you didn’t have insurance. I asked for an itemized bill and there are charges on it for medications that were not even administered. Every single item is overpriced, more than ten times of it’s market cost. The worst part is when I returned their call today and after I insisted I get a copy of the EOB before
SHAMEFUL! We recently had a two week experience at this hospital. Let me begin by telling you they have the best ICU staff we have ever encountered. And that’s saying quite a bit as we are coming from top hospitals on the West Coast. The ICU professionalism is next level. 👍 Their patient care is personal and heartfelt. You are not just another patient. You are a human in their eyes. And they do everything in their power while you are under their care. Unfortunately, the hospital‘s corporation follows the PERVERSE PROFIT OVER PATIENT model to the detriment of every human walking in there. We will be penning a letter to the state board as we have taken plenty of photos of exposed rust on plumbing (In rooms in the ICU). Duct vents are filled with grime and bacteria breeding in the ICU rooms.
