Richmond Pediatric Dentistry and Orthodontics

Dr. Thornton is absolutely amazing. My daughter recently had two teeth pulled and Dr. Thorton's bubbly personality and positive energy made the experience so pleasant and calmed my daughter's nerves. She was so cute with my daughter. We are so happy and have found her. Everyone at this practice is always so friendly.

Called to make an appointment for my children, told them my insurance, they said they took it so I made the appointment. Get there 15 minutes early to fill out paperwork, as I’m doing the paperwork we get called up to the front desk and get attitude and passive aggressive comments. She said we’re not in network, so I pull up the portal to my insurance and show them that they’re listed. Someone else takes my phone back to billing and the front desk is complaining that we need to hurry up with the paperwork and that it’s technically 15 minutes past the appointment/grace period and we should’ve gotten here earlier so that this wouldn’t happen. This was so unprofessional, every other office for any type of medical care always takes patients even when paperwork isn’t finished yet, and lets the

Their light sedation involves using a papoose board to physically restrain children. While this may be appropriate in emergency situations, or for special needs, it's inexcusable in normal pediatric dental situations. If the dentists here aren't capable of doing the job without restraints, they shouldn't be in pediatric dentistry. I've spoken with other dentists since visiting RPDO, and they've all been horrified that this device is being used. Hearing my son tell me "they strapped me up mama" with tears streaming down his face, is one of the worst feelings I've ever had as a mother. Adding insult to injury, I paid over 400 dollars for no work to be done at all. No refund for a filling not completed. The dentist said she gave my son sealants, and a later appointment with a different dentis

I have been taking my kids since my youngest was 18 months old, and he’s now almost 16, and all 4 of my kids have grown up with this practice. They are the most amazing set of people, nurses and dentist’s I have ever seen. They are very patient and kind, helpful and easy to deal with and especially so with special needs. I only wish I had, had a dentist like Dr. Maestrello and team!

We love this practice and Dr. Chris! My kids both started out with them having never been to the dentist as toddlers. They start the kids in a personal room, and make the first appointments short and easy. The kids always love the balloon animals after too! As the kids age and get comfortable, they slowly start doing longer and more detailed cleanings, but by this point, your kids are used to it and totally comfortable. They are fantastic. Recently, my son had to have two teeth pulled. The team was super quick - it did not hurt him and they were done before he knew what happened! Can't recommend them enough!
