I’m currently at the Retina Institute of Dallas with my 71-year-old mother, and the experience so far has been disappointing. The front office check-in staff were not welcoming at all — not one smile, and the interaction felt rushed and somewhat rude. When you’re bringing an elderly parent with a medical condition, a little patience and kindness goes a long way. After placing dilation drops in my mother’s eyes, staff immediately began rushing her to move to a different waiting area. My mother has OPMD and does not move quickly, yet they continued to hurry her along. I actually had to ask the staff member to stop rushing her. Medical offices can be busy, I understand that, but patients — especially elderly ones — deserve to be treated with patience, respect, and compassion. We are still her

I came here years ago and Dr.Allen really put me at ease and just did a great job with my retinopathy. I recently tried going somewhere else closer to home and the facility had better ratings but nope , the doctor freaked me out , it really hurt. My husband and I both said it’s worth the drive to go back to Dr.Allen. You guys, who are reading the reviews, don’t always trust the reviews. Who cares if the facility is old ,or you have to wait a little in the waiting room. if the doctors are great, that’s what counts . Besides, the fact that the building is old, and he has a lot of patients, tells me they’ve been in business a long time for a reason. So, this place deserves higher ratings . I’m glad I’m coming back

I had a concerning interaction with a front desk staff member today. The employee identified herself as Tonya, though I'm not certain of this. The interaction was challenging due to an unprofessional tone and manner of communication. I called for to set up an eye appointment. She then stated why are you calling if you already have an appointment with us. She then aske if I was calling for eye glasses prescriptions. I replied with I would like to have that and a referral. Her responses were, "we don't do that here. " The responses were condescending and inappropriate for customer service. I would appreciate if this could be addressed to ensure a more positive experience for future interactions.

I'm here with an elderly family member who doesn't hear well, has no peripheral vision, and more. The median age in the waiting room is probably 70. The tech who took my family member back to check vitals, dilate her eyes, etc was rude, condescending in his attitude and very curt. I've worked with geriatric patients for many years and work in healthcare for a total of 40 years. I have been here once to establish care and will not be back. I will discuss what to do about our family members care for future appointments. Don't pee in my face and tell me it's raining. I'm officially firing this provider for myself. Next!

Terrible experience from the moment you walk in. The receptionists taking in appts on the first floor have the same attitude as someone who works at the DMV or worse. Why am I as a client getting back sass from them? The wait time is ridiculous. We were in the waiting area for about an hour an a half before my grandmother was helped by the doctor. Her appt was at 2, we ended up leaving at 5:30! Get another doctor in there! One cannot handle the volume of people coming in day to day.
