My mother endured a deeply distressing and unprofessional experience during her recent visit. After undergoing testing and having her eyes dilated, she waited patiently in the reception area for about an hour. Only then was she informed—without any prior indication—that the doctor had decided not to see her. The reason given was that she had previously sought a second opinion. To our understanding, seeking a second medical opinion is not only a patient’s right but often a responsible and necessary step in managing one’s health. That this was held against her is both baffling and profoundly disappointing. What makes the situation even more upsetting is the lack of basic courtesy and communication.
