Going to the emergency rooms is never a fun time for someone in pain, sick, injured, or however many other reasons. This morning 2/11/26 at 4:15am we arrived at St. Joe’s. My daughter had an oral surgery and there were complications. We drove from Fortuna, 3 minutes from the other hospital, because the staff in Eureka does not disappoint. Today we were greeted by Lou. Very sweet and friendly. Comforted by Kaylin and given warm blankets with understanding and kindness. Shannon saw my daughter struggling with effects of nausea on her way by, and went out of her way to help. Dr. Hill was pleasant and to the point. Great bedside manner, and last but not least. Devan was able to follow the treatment plan with a great demeanor, and engaged while doing it. Letting some of the anxiety in the r
This was by far the best hospital experience I've ever even dreamed of. The nurses were amazing and they were so genuine and caring. I joked with my boyfriend after I delivered our daughter that we were going to have to go break a leg in order to stay longer. It was more like a five star hotel.. my mom dad boyfriend and brother all were able to be present for the birth and we still haven't been able to get over how amazing the entire visit was.
Ok, just like any ER/hospital there is a wide range of experiences a person can have so while my review has gotten a bit better i still think everything my review is still just as true but I did have a more positive experience since then to give this place a bit more credit. I feel a lot better about this hospital now but I am not going to erase my negative experience at the bottom.👽 Review as of November 9th: I was having a fairly quick allergic reaction at 3 am after leaving Mad River Hospital for different complications and whether it was something from the previous hospital that gave me a delayed reaction, or something i interacted with in my extremely late night grocery shopping trip at winco right after the initial hospital visit- i had no idea. Anyway they took me extremely serious
Currently 39 weeks pregnant. Labor and delivery has been mostly alright to me however, they recently have been pushing for me to get an induction done with no medical necessity. I go in 2 times a week for the past 2 months to get baby monitored and she has passed all of her tests and monitors the whole pregnancy except for one bpp test and then they’re ready to start pushing for medical induction and possibly C-section. I tell them I don’t see medical necessity and would like to explore more natural alternatives to induce labor instead of jumping straight into pitocin (which has its own risks). I don’t show up for 1 day because I’m moving and physically unable to make it into the hospital, they freak out and call all of my family members on file, they call my doula, they call a medical pro
I am writing to report a deeply distressing experience I had at Saint Joe’s Emergency Room on December 17, 2025 which caused me to leave the facility and seek care elsewhere. While in the ER, I was triage to a room where an EKG technician lifted my shirt to place electrodes. I informed him that I was not wearing a bra and asked to cover my breasts before proceeding. Instead of accommodating this reasonable request or explaining the procedure respectfully, he told me to “put your arms down” and said, “Are you going to cooperate or not? I need to get these out on, so put your arms down. I was embarrassed and wanted to maintain my dignity, so I put my hands over my breast, and he once again yelled at me, put your arms down. The technician appeared angry and intimidating. I allowed the EKG
