Providence Newberg Medical Center : Emergency Room

I cannot express in words how wonderful these people were, everyone we dealt with today was doing their best. My family and I appreciated everyone we encountered, it honestly wouldn’t be fair to call out any one person in the ER for doing an exceptional job! From the bottom of my heart, thank you.

A couple weeks ago my little sister whom is disabled and non verbal, I'm also her guardian went to the E.R. Her GI doctor wanted an abscess drained by a surgeon, that didn't happen, the doctor helping her stabbed her six times with a needle trying to culture test. The whole time she was crying because she unable to communicate how she was feeling since she's non verbal. And what really PISSES me off is, the doctor lied about how my sister tolerated the procedure in the clinical notes. I won't get into the rest the rest of the visit because I want to keep this a to be a PG review. I lost count of how many people, and how many messages I left at the hospital to discuss this matter. The only reason I gave this a three star is because my sister had a reaction to the antibiotics so we're forced

My 5 year old autistic daughter pulled out her ng tube, I asked at the front if they could fix it. We got to the back and the nurses acted annoyed they had to go upstairs to get one that might work. The first thing the doctor said is well is she going to leave it in? It’s her only way of getting nutrition atm and she had left it in for days. He then said I’m not sure my nurses feel comfortable doing that. Turns out they couldn’t do it so I had to go to doernbechers where I should have went anyways. I felt like we were annoying them rather than them helping us. Worst experience. Update- obviously not the place to take littles and to be fair it is not advertised as a pediatric unit but early this morning I went in for myself, I have kidney stones and was in an incredible amount of pain. Nurse Emilee in the er was the most amazing nurse I’ve ever met. I had a panic attack from a medication side effect and she stayed with me and never left. Her trauma informed care was 10/10. If you’re reading this, never lose that empathy. You make a difference.

My wife had knee replacement surgery here and all the staff were polite and helpful. Went to the hospital cafeteria "Ruth's Cafe" the food was good had a large Ruben sandwich which was excellent and a pepperoni pizza that was good. I could have gotten better in town, but being able to stay close to my spouse was wonderful. I appreciate the convenience and friendly cooks.
